  • Publication number: 20130316196
Abstract: A self contained energy generating system that comprises a galvanic battery and a power distribution system. The energy generating system is used to purify water by using a reverse osmosis device that draws in a source of water and transfers electrolytes to the galvanic battery. Upon contact with the electrolyte, the galvanic battery produces energy by an oxidation-reduction reaction of the cathode and anode and transfers energy to the power distribution system, which in turn provides power to the osmosis device. Additionally, the system includes a hydrogen fuel cell to increase the amount of energy generated and a power storage device for storing excess energy generated. The system also includes a controller which is configured to regulate the overall operation of the system.

  • Patent number: 8471569
Abstract: The invention provides a method and a circuit arrangement for measurement of the current through an inductive load L wherein the current is fed into the inductive load L with the aid of a full-bridge circuit. By way of example, full-bridge circuits such as these are used to feed a current in a pulse-width-modulated form into a winding of a direct-current, stepping or plunger coil motor. A respective measurement device (Ra, Rb) is provided for each half-bridge. In this case, a respective measurement device (Ra, Rb) is arranged between in each case one series circuit of switching elements and ground (VSS) or the supply voltage (VDD), respectively, at which a respective voltage is tapped off, which is a measure of the current through the respective measurement device.

  • Patent number: 8326716
Abstract: Systems and methods for creating a limited risk derivative based on a realized variance of an underlying equity is disclosed. In one implementation, a limited risk derivative product includes a capped value for a statistical property reflecting a variance of the underlying equity is calculated based on a pari-mutuel action. The capped value includes a dynamic value and a cap. The dynamic value reflects an average volatility of prices returns of the underlying equity over a predefined period of time and the cap reflects a maximum value of the dynamic value. The limited risk derivative product additionally includes an average of a summation of each squared daily return of the underlying equity included in the value for the statistical property reflecting the variance of the underlying equity.

  • Patent number: 8326715
Abstract: Methods and systems for creating and trading derivative contracts based on a statistical property reflecting a variance of an underlying asset are disclosed. Typically, an underlying asset is chosen to be a base of a variance derivative and a processor calculates a value of the statistical property reflecting an average volatility of price returns of the underlying asset over a predefined period. A trading facility display device coupled to a trading platform then displays the variance derivative based on the value of the statistical property reflecting the volatility of the underlying asset and the trading facility transmits variance derivative quotes from liquidity providers over at least one dissemination network.

  • Patent number: 8022301
Abstract: This invention relates to collet-type splices and collet-type dead ends and methods for splicing together two electricity transmission cables or terminating one electricity transmission cable, the cables comprising a composite core surrounded by a conductor. The collet-type fittings use a collet inside a collet housing to hold the composite cores without penetrating or otherwise weakening the core itself. The composite cores can be stripped of the aluminum conductor to provide a bond between the collet and the composite core. The collet seats within the collet housing thereby holding the composite core with frictional forces. The design of the collet enables the composite core to stretch longitudinally through the collet to strengthen the frictional hold.
