Abstract: An apparatus is described for depositing a thin film (9) of compound materials on selected substrates (48) in an evacuable coating chamber. This apparatus includes a rotating primary surrogate magnetron cathode surface (19) which acts to receive, in-situ, material to be sputtered. Vapor crucibles (2) expose the rotating cathode surface (19) to material vapors (8) which condense on the thermally cooled cathode surface (19) to combine with other coatings on the cathode and are thence rotated through the associated plasma sputter zone (26P) to sputter deposit desired film (9). Auxiliary rotating magnetron cathodes (32) can deposit additional material onto rotating primary cathode (19). Molten material crucible assemblies (31) having coating rollers (34) can convey molten material onto rotating auxiliary thermally cooled cathode surfaces (32) which sputter coat primary cathode.
Abstract: A hair shampoo composition comprising a cleansing surfactant; a water-insoluble hair treating compound, like a hair conditioner or an antidandruff agent; a suspending agent comprising an amine including at least one long carbon chain and a suitable acid; and a suitable carrier, and a method of treating hair are disclosed. The shampoo compositions effectively suspend the water-insoluble hair-treating compound, effectively cleanse the hair and effectively deliver the water-insoluble hair-treating compound to the hair or scalp.

Abstract: An opacifier comprising an amine including at least one carbon chain of at least 16 carbon atoms or a fatty amidoamine having an alkyl group including at least about thirteen carbon atoms, and a suitable acid is disclosed. The opacifier is a salt of the long-chain amine and effectively opacifies, or pearlizes, water-based compositions, such as hair treating compositions, like shampoos, conditioners, conditioning shampoos and antidandruff shampoos; and skin treating compositions, like conditioners, moisturizers and topical medicaments.

Abstract: A single formula, mild permanent wave reducing composition and method of permanently waving or reshaping human hair that provides a strong, long lasting curl and leaves the hair soft while minimizing further damage to already damaged hair. The composition contains a cysteamine reducing agent compound selected from the group consisting of cysteamine, a cysteamine salt, and mixtures thereof. The cysteamine compound should be present in an amount of about 7.8% to about 9.0% by weight; and sufficient additional alkali, if necessary, to bring the pH of the composition to about 7.8 to about 8.5. Optionally, a hair softening and/or moisturizing agent, such as glycerine is included in the composition in an amount of about 0.1% to about 15% by weight of the composition.

Abstract: A motor controller comprises a plug detect circuit which detects "continuous" plug diode conduction during plug braking. The plug detect circuit detects "continuous" plug braking by detecting when a plug diode is or is not conducting current throughout substantially the entire time that a power MOSFET controlling the plug braking is conductive in one pulse width modulated MOSFET switching cycle. Continuous plug detection facilitates the motor controller's controlling a vehicle so that the vehicle has a more constant and smooth plug braking deceleration and subsequent powered acceleration in the opposite direction. According to another aspect of the invention, a motor controller comprises a POT HI and a POT LO driver circuit. The POT HI and POT LO driver circuits allow the detection of faults in throttle devices and the connections of the throttle devices to the POT HI and POT LO driver circuits.

Abstract: An aqueous, alcoholic or hydroalcholic composition containing one or more oligomers or prepolymers that are polymerized in-situ, while the oligomer(s) is in contact with the hair, for in-situ formation (polymerization) of a polymer. The oligomer compositions contain essentially no toxic, hazardous or harmful monomer(s), such as resorcinol.
Abstract: A conditioning shampoo containing an anionic surfactant, polyethyleneimine, a long chain fatty acid, and a non-volatile silicone material has extended product stability, excellent cleansing and foaming properties, and provides excellent and improved overall conditioning to human hair, particularly superior wet and dry combing properties.
Abstract: A conditioning shampoo composition comprising: (a) an anionic cleansing surfactant, such as an alkyl ether sulfate or an alkyl sulfate, like sodium lauryl ether sulfate or ammonium lauryl sulfate; (b) a water-insoluble conditioning agent, such as a silicone compound or a hydrocarbon compound, like a polydimethylsiloxane; (c) an emulsifying composition comprising (i) a polyhydric compound, such as a glycol, a triol or a polyol, and (ii) a hydrophilic quaternary ammonium compound, such as a quaternary ammonium compound including a fatty amidoalkyl substituent, like a long chain alkamidopropyl quaternary ammonium chloride; and (d) a suspending agent, in (e) a suitable carrier, that effectively resists phase separation and that cleanses the hair and imparts improved wet stage and improved dry stage conditioning properties to the hair in a single application of the composition is disclosed.
