Abstract: A last round hold open (LRHO) apparatus comprising a first lever having a first end and a second end; a second lever having a first end and a second end, the first end of the second lever in contact with the second end of the first lever; a bolt catch in contact with the second end of the second lever, and with a bolt carrier; and a follower in contact with the first end of the first lever, such that when the follower pushes up on the first end of the first lever, the second end of the first lever pushes down on the first end of the second lever, and the second end of the second lever pushes up on the bolt catch, resulting in activation of the bolt catch and opening the bolt carrier to alert an operator of the firearm that the firearm is out of ammunition.

Abstract: Methods of treating an autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, methods of increasing apoptosis of pro-inflammatory immune cells or synoviocytes, methods of increasing the quantity of the anti-inflammatory regulatory T cells, and methods of slowing the progression of inflammation in a subject include systemically administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition including an effective amount of a TRAIL-conjugate. Preferably, the TRAIL-conjugate is effective for at least 3 days, more preferably at least 7 days, without being part of a nanocomplex that modulates the circulation half-life or release kinetics of the TRAIL-conjugate. Combination therapies including administering a second active agent, most preferably a TNF-? inhibitor, as well as pharmaceutical composition dosage units including a TRAIL-conjugate and a TNF-? inhibitor in an effective amount for a single once weekly dose for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis are also provided.
Abstract: Medical devices and methods of treating subjects using such medical devices are described. The medical device may include a housing with at least two chambers including a first chamber adjacent to a second chamber; a barrier between the first chamber and the second chamber; and a soft, flexible base. The first and second chambers may be airtight, the barrier configured to establish fluid communication between the first chamber and the second chamber upon an application of force to the barrier.

Abstract: An eyewear clipping device to fasten the eyewear to the sides of a cap that comprises a first vertical member forming an exterior slot for receiving an earpiece of an eyewear with a first top end and a first bottom end. A second vertical member forms an interior three-sectioned clip with a second top end and a bottom end comprising a central ascending vertical section that forks at the top second end to form two retention wings that extend back downward toward the bottom end that insert behind a hat band of a cap and together with the central ascending vertical section, which is positioned in front of the hat band, create an opposed gripping force on the hat band. The first bottom end and the second bottom end connect together using a U-shaped curve or straight bridge.
Abstract: Compositions of proteoglycans and core proteins thereof and related methods of treating subjects, e.g., patients, are described. The method may include applying a composition to an eye of a subject before, during, and/or after an intraocular medical procedure. The composition may comprise a proteoglycan or core protein thereof, such as decorin proteoglycan or decorin core protein, and a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt. The composition may be in the form of an aqueous solution, viscoelastic gel, or viscoelastic film, for example. Further methods are described that include treating donor corneal tissue with a composition comprising a proteoglycan or core protein thereof. The treated donor corneal tissue may be used as or in a corneal graft, such as during endothelial keratoplasty.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing an orthodontic appliance for securing to a user's teeth in order to carry out an orthodontic treatment, the appliance having an element. The method includes a) gathering information relating to the user's set of teeth; b) using the information to determine at least first and second stable shapes of the element towards which the element should tend to deform during the first and second periods of treatment, respectively; and c) producing and programming the element in such a way that the application of a stimulus during the first period of the treatment renders the second stable shape operational. In certain aspects in step c), a retractable or expansible material is incorporated into the element.
