  • Patent number: 7959722
Abstract: A device for separating wet paint overspray from an exhaust air flow containing overspray particles is disclosed. The overspray particles pass into the exhaust air flow in an application region of a painting assembly and the device includes a separation device for separating the overspray from a part of the exhaust air flow, in which clogging of the separation device with wet paint overspray is substantially prevented during a cleaning operation and/or ingress of precoat material into the application region from the region of the separation device is substantially prevented during a precoating operation, the device includes at least one closing device, by means of which the flow path of the exhaust air flow from the application region to the separation device can be intermittently closed off at least partially, and at least one precoat feeding means discharges a precoat material into the exhaust air flow downstream of the closing device.

Abstract: An error logging method for a coating plant is disclosed. The error logging method generally includes capturing an error during running of process data records for the coating plant, wherein the individual process data records are ordered according to the given time of operation of the coating plant and each of which contain various process data of the coating plant. The method may further include storage of the captured process data records, detection of a possible error condition of the coating plant, and/or production of an error code when detection of an error condition of the coating plant occurs. The various examples may also relate to storage of the error code in chronological order with the stored process data records.

  • Publication number: 20100075058
Abstract: An applicator is disclosed for applying a coating agent, such as a sealant, to a component, such as a flanged seam of a motor vehicle body component. The applicator includes a nozzle for delivering the coating agent on to the component and a carrier. The carrier may be guided by a multiple-axis robot in operation, with a joint located kinematically between the carrier and the nozzle, thereby permitting the nozzle to move to avoid contact with a component being coated.

  • Publication number: 20090212122
Abstract: The invention relates to an application element (1) for a rotary sprayer, in particular in the form of a bell-shaped plate or a rotary disc, with an overflow surface (8) which, during the coating operation, rotates together with the application element (1) and is overflowed by a coating agent to be applied, and with a surface layer which is located on the overflow surface (8) and on which a thin coating agent film forms with a certain film thickness during operation, wherein boundary surface friction acts between the coating agent film and the surface layer. It is proposed that the surface layer reduces the boundary surface friction between the coating agent film and the overflow surface (8). Furthermore, the invention comprises an associated operating method.

  • Patent number: 7495575
Abstract: A gear pump for the dosed conveyance of pigmented lacquers or paints and which is adapted for use with a painting robot. The gear pump comprises two toothed wheels meshing with one another and which are mounted within a pump housing in such a manner that they can be rotated by a driven drive shaft and a fixed bearing shaft. For this, the drive shaft is mounted by a bearing section at multiple points in a pump housing and a coupling section of the drive shaft projects out of the pump drive to connect to a drive. In order, on the one hand, to avoid wear due to high pressure forces and, on the other hand, to absorb a pronounced load from the outside, a supporting bearing for the radial and axial support of the drive shaft is formed on the drive shaft's coupling section projecting outside of the pump housing.

  • Patent number: 7488518
Abstract: In order to provide a process for curing a coating, in particular a radiation-curable coating, on a work piece, which allows coatings even on difficult to access regions of a three-dimensional work piece to be cured in a simple manner, it is proposed that the work piece is disposed in a plasma generation area, and that in the plasma generation area a plasma is generated, by means of which the coating is at least partially cured.

  • Publication number: 20060124434
Abstract: The invention relates to an air conveyor in a conveying assembly with two symmetrical conveyors for transporting car bodies resting on sleds individually suspended to traction carrier cables (60) through four independent pendle arms. The cables are synchronously driven to travel along parallel respective paths following a closed loop circuit in a vertical plane. The arms are affixed to the cables through articulated assembly devices enabling them to travel a complete revolution in the vertical plane. When they return empty, from the sled discharging station to the loading station, they are tilted along the cable until they rest on a support member integral therewith. A ramp is also provided for retaining the distal end of each arm which guides its tilting about an idler wheel when approaching the loading station.
