Patent number: 4354681Abstract: An improved drop target assembly provides multiple target surfaces at a given drop target location. First and second target surfaces respectively are provided on first and second support members disposed in alignment such that the first member is in front of the second member, and the first target surface is in front of and shields the second target surface when the members maintain both targets in the above-playfield position. The first member is vertically moveable to drop the first target surface to a below-playfield position. This exposes the second target surface [exposed] for ball engagement. Preferably, a pair of switch contacts is provided behind the second target surface such that ball engagement of either the first target surface or the second target surface closes the switch contacts.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1981Date of Patent: October 19, 1982Assignee: D. Patent number: 4354868Abstract: The invention concerns a process of desiliconization of manganese alloys in the liquid state.By injecting carbon dioxide into the liquid alloy, which injection can be effected by an additional neutral gas, or oxidizing agent, the silicon is oxidized to SiO.sub.2. The addition of lime or dolomite favors the slagging of the silicon. By this process the silicon content can be as low as 0.1%.The process is particularly applicable for obtaining a ferromanganese with low carbon and low silicon content.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1980Date of Patent: October 19, 1982Assignee: Societe Francaise d'Electrometallurgie-SOFREMInventors: Michel Demange, Louis Septier

Patent number: 4354565Abstract: An automobile engine runs on liquid air plus a small amount of solid or liquid fossil fuel. The liquid is an efficient method of storing the energy of liquefaction. To get extended range and use of energy effectively some fuel is used to increase the temperature of this gas before it is introduced into the expansion engine. Two methods of using this fuel may be employed--one burns fuel internally in the expansion engine cylinders essentially at constant volume so a liquid form of the fossil fuel must be used; while the second method heats the gaseous working medium at constant pressure external from the expansion engine in a furnace so it can burn a wide range of either liquid or solid fossil fuels. With either system of operation the air/nitrogen as liquid is pumped at the rate of use from the insulated cold storage container up to high intial operation pressure (about 200 atmospheres) then passes through heat exchangers to bring it up to the intial temperature for expansion.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1979Date of Patent: October 19, 1982Assignee: R & D AssociatesInventors: Albert L. Patent number: 4353553Abstract: An improved drop target assembly provides first and second target surfaces for ball engagement at a given drop target location. Only one of the target surfaces is engageable at any given time. Preferably, both target surfaces are on a single, vertically movable support member such that dropping of the member to lower the first target surface to a below-playfield position drops the second target surface into a ball engageable position. Patent number: 4354244Abstract: A sample box is provided for selectively receiving, retaining and discharging samples of particulate material during a plurality of successive measurement cycles. A data processor receives a plurality of input signals representing the measured weight of the sample box and the measured temperature, conductivity, and moisture (based on electrical impedance) of each sample. Using supplier-related data stored in a memory and entered through a keyboard and display, the data processor determines, for each sample, its wet bulk density, its electronic oven dry percentage from the moisture based on electrical impedance, and its density oven dry percentage from the wet bulk density. From the density and electronic oven dry percentages and the temperature of the sample, the data processor determines if the sample contains frozen moisture and also determines if the electronic and density oven dry percentages are based on valid input data.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1980Date of Patent: October 12, 1982Assignee: Eur-Control M&D, U.S.A., Inc.Inventors: Christopher S. Patent number: 4353599Abstract: The corrector comprises two identical parallel pistons which control the opening and closing of two valves located between two inlets and two outlets of two braking circuits. Two push rods subjected to a control pressure urge the pistons in the direction for opening the valves. A reaction spring cooperates with a transmission element to urge the push rods in the opposite direction. When both braking circuits are being supplied, the corrector presents an identical cut-off point for the two circuits. In the event of one of the circuits failing, the transmission element undergoes tilting which results in an unequal sharing of the reaction force and an increase in the cut-off point in the undamaged circuit.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1980Date of Patent: October 12, 1982Assignee: Societe Anonyme D.B.A.Inventors: Jean-Jacques Carre, Christian Riquart
-
Patent number: 4353291Abstract: Servo unit provided with an internal bracing member which is stressed upon assembly, permitting mounting thereof to a vehicle by means of only two fixing screws. The bracing member has an initial shape which is curved in a given direction, forming a clearance between the inside face of the mounting wall and two regions of the bracing member against which the screws bear. The clearance is eliminated when the bracing member is pressed against the inside face at the moment of definitive fixing of the screws with respect to the casing. The bracing member of the invention provides for better distribution over the whole of the inside face of the braking reaction forces which are applied to the casing.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1981Date of Patent: October 12, 1982Assignee: Societe Anonyme D.B.A.Inventor: Jean J.
