  • Patent number: 4342002
Abstract: An amplifier system comprises a plurality of modules located within a cabinet in a manner providing minimum signal paths. The signal to be amplified is divided into frequency ranges for main amplification, and each main amplifier has an independent power supply. The modules are constructed from extrusions shaped and assembled to facilitate servicing and to function as heat sinks or as a cooling system as well as to provide mechanical protection and electrostatic shielding.

  • Patent number: 4340301
Abstract: A retroreflector plate and a method for its manufacture are described. The retroreflector plates consist of a transparent plate with a reflective rear side, the front side of which comprises adjacently disposed, curved light incidence surfaces, and the rear side of which comprises adjacently disposed, curved reflection surfaces, in which case the optical axis of each individual light incidence surface coincides with the optical axis of a respective reflection surface. The retroreflector plates are distinguished by the fact that, when the light incidence surfaces or the reflection surfaces are projected perpendicular and parallel onto the plate surface, as the plane of horizontal projection, the outlines of the reflection surfaces comprise different surface content, when compared with each other and with the light incidence surfaces, or, the outlines of the light incidence surfaces and their respective reflection surfaces substantially comprise the same surface content, while having different contour shapes.

  • Patent number: 4339926
Abstract: A vortex tube has a vortex generator portion in the form of a right circular cylindrical re-entrant cavity having end walls defining a right circular cylindrical volume therewithin with a nozzle means separating such volume from the remainder of the cavity. Pressurized air or other gas is introduced into the cavity through an appropriate coupling and is caused to swirl by the nozzle means to produce a vortex within such volume. A stream of higher temperature gas is coupled from one side of the vortex generator by a tube of given length and diameter smaller than the diameter of the vortex volume and a stream of lower temperature gas is coupled from the other side of the vortex generator through an opening of smaller diameter than the tube. Longitudinally extending grooves in the inner surface of the distal end portion of the tube enable a given temperature differential between the high and low temperature streams to be obtained with a tube of reduced length.

  • Patent number: 4340612
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for preparing high nutritive fibres from fish proteins which comprises grinding whole fish or fish pieces in the presence of water and then adding alkali to the ground fish. The alkali/fish mixture is then heated and cooled and the cooled mixture is then passed through a colloid mill thereby eliminating solid particles to obtain a protein solution. The solution is then injected through a spinneret into an aqueous acid medium causing the coagulation of the proteins into fibres. The fibres are then washed, set by heating and then neutralized. The fibres obtained by this process are also described.

  • Patent number: 4339179
Abstract: An eyeglass frame having open ended rims closed by screw assemblies for clamping lenses therein is disclosed. Each screw assembly comprises a machine screw having a head which defines a bearing surface, a nut threadedly engageable with the threaded shank of the screw, and integrally formed with a lug at one end of the open rim, and an insert member integrally formed with a lug at the other end of the open rim and having a cooperable bearing surface. Dog clutches are formed on the bearing surfaces and preferably comprise alternating projecting portions and recesses in an annular array. The dog clutches normally prevent loosening of the screw assembly by limiting the degree of relative angular displacement between the bearing surfaces, but the gap between the lugs and the resilience of the rims permits unscrewing of the assembly to remove the lens without damaging any of the parts of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4339008
Abstract: A well notching tool having an elongated rotary power shaft and a coaxial shell in surrounding relationship therewith. A portion of the exterior shell surface is formed with an upwardly directed taper, and a portion of the exterior surface below the taper is formed with threads. A coaxial bell housing surrounds the shell and has internal threads cooperating with the threads on the shell for relative movement of the bell housing and the shell. The bell housing wall has upwardly directed passageways, and a slip is mounted in each passageway for movement in the passageway when contacted by the taper on the shell. A cutting assembly is located at the lower end of the power shaft to rotate with the power shaft. The cutting assembly includes pivotally mounted cutting tool arms actuated upon rotation of the cutting tool assembly to swing outwardly, and a cutting tool is carried at the end of each arm to cut a notch in the sidewall of a well bore.

  • Patent number: 4339253
Abstract: A process of and apparatus for liquefying a dry gas with low boiling point in a first circuit through heat exchange with a main refrigerating fluid in a second circuit itself pre-cooled to its at least partial liquefaction through heat exchange with an auxiliary refrigerating fluid in a third circuit, wherein, for a same amount of treated products, the required total compression input power for the refrigerating fluids is reduced by performing in said third circuit an intermediate condensation between the two last compression stages followed by a phase separation, the gaseous phase being compressed to a high pressure in the last compression stage whereas the liquid phase is compressed to a high pressure by a pump and recycled to a cryogenic heat exchanger for cooling the gas initially in the moist state thereby at least partially drying same.

  • Patent number: 4337547
Abstract: A screen wiper intended to be detachably fitted on the end of a wiper arm, comprises a harness having means for attachment of the harness to said arm, an elastically deformable elongated piece having means along a portion thereof towards one end for supporting a portion of a wiper blade, and a yoke pivotally mounted towards the other end of said elongated piece for supporting the portion of the blade rubber not carried by the said elongated piece. By mounting the blade in this manner the blade can undergo independant deformation on each side of the articulation point of the wiper arm, which eliminates practically all risk of lift-away such as can occur with known wipers when they encounter zones of great curvature.
