Abstract: A method of automatically detecting an anomalous condition relative to a nominal operating condition in a vapor compression system. An expected input power function in the form of a hyperplane is calculated based on three temperature readings: an intake temperature from an intake area of the condenser unit, a return temperature from an intake area of an evaporator unit, and a supply temperature from a supply output area of the evaporator unit. The function produces an estimate of the expected input power consumed by the compressor unit, and this expected input power is compared with an actual input power measured from the compressor unit. If the expected input power deviates from the measured input power by more than a predetermined tolerance, an indication is stored and communicated that an anomalous condition, such as a refrigerant loss, condenser unit fouling, or a malfunctioning fan, exists in the vapor compression system.

Abstract: A device for decoding a direct sequence spread spectrum-encoded binary message includes a sampler that captures at least one sequence of binary samples corresponding to one bit of the transmitted message. The captured sequence of samples are applied to a filter matched to the spreading code used, thus making it possible to delete the spreading applied to the original message. The device further includes, at the output of the sampler, an error correction block including a memory storing a plurality of binary sequences corresponding to all of the possible values for a captured sequence of samples. A replacement circuit replaces the captured sequence of samples with the stored sequence, thereby minimizing the number of samples different from the captured sequence of samples, and allowing the stored sequence to be applied to the matched filter.

Abstract: A lighting system controller is provided that is configured to automatically synchronize a lighting controller with a centralized configuration. In a particular example, this automatic synchronization activity may include modifying the configuration of the lighting controller to match configuration information stored locally on the lighting system controller. Conversely, this automatic synchronization activity may include modifying the locally stored configuration information to match the current configuration of the lighting controller. In some examples, the lighting system controller is configured to use cyclic redundancy checks when determining whether to modify configuration information.

Abstract: A package includes a first die and a second die. The dies are connected to each other through an interface. The package includes interrupt processing for detecting interrupt information and providing a packet in response to the interrupt information detection. The packet includes an address to which data in the packet is to be written. The interface is configured to transport the packet between the dies. A data store is provided to which the data is writable. An interrupt event is determined from data received in several packets.
Abstract: A package includes a first die and a second die. The dies are connected to each other through an interface. At least one of the first and second dies includes a plurality of signal sources, wherein each source has at least one quality of service parameter associated therewith, and a plurality of queues having a different priorities. A signal from a respective one of the signal sources is allocated to one of the plurality of queues in dependence on the at least one quality of service parameter associated with the respective signal source. The interface is configured such that signals from said queues are transported from one of said first and second dies to the other of said first and second dies.
Abstract: To ameliorate interference between an indoor wireless pico cell system, for example in an aircraft, and public wireless communications systems operating in a surrounding or over-flown area, frequencies of operation of the indoor system are coordinated with those used by the public wireless systems in the surrounding area. The pico cell system operates one type of service on all or a portion of a band used for a different type of service by the public system. In the aircraft example, a pico cell system might support GSM narrowband service and CDMA broadband service. The airborne GSM operations use a portion, e.g. corresponding to a guard band, of CDMA service spectrum in the terrestrial network. The airborne CDMA service uses a band used for GSM service by the terrestrial network. The pico cell system dynamically changes its frequency band(s), as the aircraft flies over different areas.
Abstract: A package includes a first die and a second die, at least one of said first and second dies being a memory. The dies are connected to each other through an interface. The interface is configured to transport both control signals and memory transactions. A sampling circuit samples the control signals before transport on the interface. The sampling circuit is controlled in dependence on at least one quality of service parameter associated with a respective control signal.
Abstract: Methods for improving the foaming properties of cleansing and foaming formulations for topical use are presented. The methods comprise including in the formulation an effective amount of a polyol glycoside or a mixture of polyol glycosides of formula (I) R1—O-(G)x-H, in which x is a decimal number between 1 and 5, G is a reducing sugar and R1 is a radical of formula (A) —CH2—(CHOH)n—CH2—OH, in which n is an integer equal to 2, 3 or 4, or R1 is a radical of the formula (B) —(CH2—CHOH—CH2—O)m—H, in which m is an integer equal to 1, 2 or 3. Compositions containing compounds of formula (I) and methods of preparing the compositions are also presented. The methods and compositions can be applied to cosmetics and dermapharmaceuticals.

Abstract: A bus assembly and bus assembly connector include one or more insulated members that have axial sleeves that fit within one another during assembly to form a nesting arrangement. The nesting arrangement of the axial sleeves allow reduction of the overall size of the bus assembly connector while satisfying power rating standards and dielectric clearances as well as allowing bolting of the bus assembly to thereby clamp and secure the bus assembly. The axial sleeves can be distinctively designed such that the phase members must be assembled in a predetermined order, with no components being omitted, to form the bus assembly connector or clamp the bus assembly.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for performing a medical procedure on a patient, for example a dermatological procedure, by use of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) having a relatively low peak power, and in particular a peak power low enough so as not to result in a phase change in the heater or chromophore absorbing radiation which would result in a significant reduction in its absorption, and of relatively long duration which is generally greater than, sometimes significantly greater than, the thermal relaxation time of the irradiated target.

Abstract: A joint pack includes one or more phase members that utilize integrated standoff spacers that protrude and come into contact with opposing conductor plates to maintain a phase space between the phase members. The spacers are located along the insulating plates of the phase members away from the phase member's axial sleeves and protrude through apertures in the conductor plates disposed on the phase members, in which the standoff spacers also provide a barrier that prevents phase-conductors from being inserted too far within the phase space. The phase members include axial sleeves that fit within one another during assembly to form a nesting arrangement, thereby reducing the overall size of the joint pack while satisfying standards. The axial sleeves can be distinctively designed such that the phase members must be assembled in a predetermined order, with no components being omitted, to form the joint pack.
