Abstract: Methods for improving the accuracy of characterizing unmonitored paths or virtual meters in a utility system. The hierarchical arrangement of IEDs in the utility system is determined. Measured quantities of a characteristic of the utility being monitored are received and error-adjusted using statistical or absolute methods. The statistical method accounts for the mean and standard deviation associated with error measurements of the subject IED, and the absolute method uses the absolute value of the error measurement, expressed as a percentage, to produce ranges of measured quantities within an error tolerance. The differences between the error-adjusted quantities are analyzed to determine whether an unmonitored path exists, and if so, whether the virtual meter is consuming or supplying the utility. The order in which IEDs are read is determined so that a parent and its children are read in sequence to increase synchronicity of the received data and the virtual meter evaluation.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to establish a method of establishing a cell with a remarkably high hERG channel expression level for use in predicting adverse effects based on hERG channel inhibition in research and development of drugs, and to thereby establish a highly sensitive and high throughput evaluation method. By inserting a hERG gene into a retrovirus vector plasmid or lentivirus vector plasmid to thereby prepare a virus vector, concentrating the vector by ultracentrifugation if necessary, transferring the hERG gene into cells and expressing hERG channels therein, it has become possible to secure an expression level effective in measurements using a fully automated high throughput patch clamp system or dyes.
Abstract: The present document describes an actuated chair for inducing motion with respect to the ground as a function of motion signals synchronized with a video output of a feature length movie. The chair comprises a seat base, and an actuating base for receiving the motion signals. The actuating base comprises three link members, namely a first link member, a second link member and a third link member. Each link member has one translational degree of freedom and two rotational degrees of freedom. The first link member and the second link member are attached to the seat base closer to the rear edge than the third link member. The actuating base further comprises three linear actuators for inducing motion to the seat base. The actuators are fixed to the frame and each actuator is respectively connected to the seat base using a respective one of the three link members.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling the flow of fluid for an inflatable body support 30 system, such as a mattress, having multiple, inflatable chambers. Each inflatable chamber can be selectively and independently inflated and deflated to vary the pressure exerted from the mattress surface to selected areas of a human body, thereby preventing the formation of decubitus ulcers. The system includes a valve assembly that includes a plurality of solenoid valves to direct air at a pressure of less than 1 pound per square inch into each chamber and a separate vent valve all operable by a controller to regulate the level of inflation of each inflatable chamber.

Abstract: A flexible amperage flag that indicates an amperage rating of a trip unit in a circuit breaker. The flag is molded with a housing of the trip unit so that it remains with the trip unit even when installed into a different circuit breaker. The flag includes an attachment member secured to a wall of the trip unit and a flexible leg integral with the attachment member. A top surface member indicates the amperage rating and protrudes through an auxiliary cover of the circuit breaker so as to be visible through the panelboard into which the circuit breaker is installed and is connected to the top surface member. During a circuit interruption, the pressure created by the exploding gas forces the auxiliary cover away from the trip unit, creating stress on the flag. The flexible leg permits the flag to move with the auxiliary cover and return to its original form without breaking.

Abstract: A method is presented for forming mono-crystalline germanium or silicon germanium in a trench. In an embodiment, the method comprises providing a substrate comprising at least one active region that is adjacent to two insulating regions, forming in the active region a trench having a width of less than 100 nm, and forming in the trench a fill layer at a temperature of less than 450° C. that comprises germanium or silicon germanium and substantially fills the trench. The method further comprises heating the fill layer to a temperature sufficient to substantially melt the fill layer and allowing re-crystallization of the substantially melted fill layer, thereby forming mono-crystalline germanium or silicon germanium in the trench. In an embodiment, the method further comprises forming a mono-crystalline germanium or silicon germanium fin by removing at least a portion of the insulating regions. The mono-crystalline fin may be comprised in a fin field-effect-transistor (finFET).
