  • Patent number: 7998289
Abstract: To produce a metallic shaped part (1), in particular a vehicle body part, from a semifinished product (2) made of an unhardened hot-workable steel sheet, first of all the semifinished product (2) is formed by a cold-forming method, in particular a drawing method, into a part blank (10) (process step II). The part blank (10) is then trimmed at the margins to a marginal contour (12?) approximately corresponding to the part (1) to be produced (process step III). Finally, the trimmed part blank (17) is heated and press-hardened in a hot-forming tool (23) (process step IV). The part (1) produced in the process already has the desired marginal contour (24) after the hot forming, so that the final trimming of the part margin is dispensed with. In this way, the cycle times during the production of hardened parts of steel sheet can be considerably reduced.

  • Patent number: 8000866
Abstract: An engine is coupled to an input member of a hybrid transmission, the hybrid transmission operative to transfer power between the engine and a second torque machine and an output member. A method for controlling the engine includes monitoring an operator torque request, commanding operation of the hybrid transmission in a continuously variable operating range state, determining engine commands comprising a first engine torque request and a second engine torque request based upon the operator torque request and the operation of the hybrid transmission, determining an engine torque constraint comprising a maximum engine torque based upon a capacity of the hybrid transmission to react the engine torque, and controlling engine operation based upon the first engine torque request only when the second engine torque request exceeds the engine torque constraint.

  • Patent number: 7992464
Abstract: A steering column arrangement having a steering spindle (2) which is mounted in a casing tube (3, 5) so as to be rotationally movable, and having a switch module (7) which is held immovably with respect to the steering spindle (2). The switch module (7) is fixed radially and axially on the casing tube (3), the switch module (7) being supported on a bearing (12) which is arranged on the steering spindle. The Switch module comprises a centering device (8) which, under action of a force (F) which is oriented coaxially with respect to the longitudinal axis (L) of the steering spindle (2), fixes the switch module (7) on the casing tube (3).

  • Patent number: 7992459
Abstract: In a shifting claw transmission for a motor vehicle including a main shaft and a countershaft and an electric motor for rotating the countershaft or being rotated thereby with freely rotatable gear wheels supported on the counter shaft and engageable with the countershaft by claw engagement structures, the speed of the countershaft is adjustable by the electric motor to be close to, but somewhat different from, the speed of the freely rotatable gear wheels to be engaged in order to facilitate shifting but avoid a tooth-on-tooth problem which would inhibit shifting.

  • Publication number: 20110186366
Abstract: An electric powertrain comprises a high voltage bus an electric machine, and a traction inverter is coupled between a high voltage bus and the electric machine. An electric voltage for the high voltage bus is generated with the electric machine and the traction inverter when the electric machine is driven mechanically. The generated electric voltage is limited and converted to a predetermined voltage lower than the limited voltage. A unit of the vehicle, such as a cooling pump, is powered with the predetermined voltage.

  • Publication number: 20110187153
Abstract: The invention relates to a radiator grill arrangement (10, 10?) for a motor vehicle front end of a motor vehicle, which comprises a plurality of air passage openings (16), which can be closed at least substantially by at least one flap element (20). In the embodiment according to the invention, the at least one flap element (20) is thereby supported so as to be able to swivel about an associated flap axis (24). In driving states of the motor vehicle in which little cooling air is needed for the engine or engine compartment, the entire flap arrangement or a part of the flaps (20) can thus be closed in order to improve the drag coefficient cw of the motor vehicle and to save fuel. Also in the parked state of the motor vehicle with the engine switched off, it is possible to close the flap arrangement in order to ensure a more aesthetically pleasing appearance of the motor vehicle.
