Abstract: A system and method for controlling the temperature of the engine oil of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle are provided. The system includes an engine oil circuit for controlling the temperature of the engine oil, which engine oil circuit includes the internal combustion engine and a coolant/engine-oil heat exchanger; and a coolant circuit for controlling the temperature of the internal combustion engine, which coolant circuit in a main branch, includes the internal combustion engine, a coolant cooler and a first coolant pump and, in an auxiliary branch downstream of the coolant cooler, includes the coolant/engine-oil heat exchanger and a second coolant pump. The heat of the engine oil can thereby be dissipated via the coolant/engine-oil heat exchanger to the coolant and further via the coolant cooler to the environment.
Abstract: Proposed is a PEM fuel cell that comprises a separator plate assembly with a charging chamber, which is partitioned off by a partition wall and via charging spots has a fluid connection to an adjoining cathode chamber. The partition wall is designed so that the depths of the charging channels in the charging chamber and the depths of the distribution channels in the adjoining cathode chambers change in such a way that the quantity of oxidant that is charged at a charging spot from the charging chamber into the cathode chamber can be fixed in advance. As a result, the charging of oxidant, which has not been humidified or only slightly, into the cathode chamber can be improved with regard to the curve of the relative humidity along the cathode. Also proposed is a method for manufacturing a separator plate assembly suitable for a PEM fuel cell.
Abstract: In a fuel cell system a specific connection and a valve arrangement make it possible for a compressor to supply precompressed air to a fuel cell stack via a waste gas line, said air then leaving the fuel cell stack via a line which is otherwise an air feed line. In this way, a humidifier may be bypassed. This is sensible in particular during a start phase at low ambient temperatures, during which the fuel cell system is intended to warm up without moisture in the fuel cell stack having a negative effect, for instance by freezing. The compressor may be operated both in the start phase or stop phase and during conventional operation by the same mode of operation.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for calibrating a position sensor mounted on the shaft of a permanent magnet synchronous motor, to control the position of a rotor of the permanent magnet synchronous motor relative to a magnetic field produced by a stator of the permanent magnet synchronous motor, a DC test current is supplied to stator windings of the permanent magnet synchronous motor to generate a definite magnetic field. The motor speed caused by the DC test current is adjusted to zero by modifying the rotor position; and the position measured by the position sensor at zero motor speed relative to the magnetic field is used to calibrate the position sensor.
Abstract: A method for producing a fiber composite hollow body, particularly a hollow fiber composite component for a motor vehicle. The hollow body is produced by a) applying and fixing continuous reinforcement fibers to a form corresponding to the later shape of the hollow body, wherein the arrangement of the fiber material with regard to the fiber composite hollow body takes place so as to optimize force flow and tension along a pre-defined load path, b) impregnating the reinforcement fibers with a curable resin, c) curing the applied resin to form a fiber composite component, and d) dissolving, melting, or removing the lost form to form the fiber composite hollow body. The lost form has a complex geometry. The fibers, which may be impregnated, are placed tightly onto the surface of the lost form, completely forming the surface contour.
Abstract: In a method for controlling an output torque of an electric variable transmission having an input coupled to a combustion engine and at least one electric motor that is at least feedable by a battery and able to recuperate energy into the battery, the battery power is limited to a maximum continuous battery power when the transmission is in a stationary operating point with a continuous revolution speed. The battery power is increased and limited to a maximum transient battery power that is greater than the maximum continuous battery power in a non-stationary operating point, upon a request for changing the gear-ratio (ratio between transmission input and output-speed) or upon a request for changing the transmissions output revolution speed.
Abstract: In a drive train and a method for operating the drive train for a motor vehicle, comprising a hydraulically shiftable transmission unit with an input shaft connectable to an internal combustion engine via a first clutch, a first electric motor, and an oil pump which supplies the transmission unit with pressurized oil and which is driven by the internal combustion engine or by an electric pump motor, the electric pump motor for driving the oil pump is in the form of a sensorless electric motor, and if required, the first electric motor is energized and coupled to the oil pump in order to assist starting the electric pump motor.
Abstract: A tandem axle having two drivable axles, each axle including a differential gearing with a drive input gearwheel, drivable by a shaft, as a differential gearing input and with two drive input semi-axles driving the wheels of the axle using axle shaft wheels. The wheels of the first axle are permanently positively coupled to the drive input gearwheel of the axle. An activatable distributor wheel is seated on a drive input shaft of the drive input gearwheel of the first axle. The distributor wheel meshes with a through drive shaft wheel which is arranged in a rotationally rigid fashion on a through drive shaft. The output of the through drive shaft is coupled to the input-side drive input gearwheel of the second axle by means of intermediate members. Switchable clutches are arranged in the second axle between the axle shaft wheels and their adjacent wheels.

Abstract: A sensor system and method for detecting particles, in particular dirt particles or water droplets on a vehicle windscreen, comprising an optical sensor (3). The sensor (3) operates on the basis of light transit time and receives light signals (S) that are emitted by an emitter element and that are at least partially reflected, wherein the emitter element and the sensor (3) are located and aligned on the exterior of the vehicle, on or in the vicinity of a tail gate tailgate, hatchback or trunk lid (2) of said vehicle (1) in such a way that particles on the tailgate, hatchback or trunk lid (2) can be detected by means of the sensor (3) by sensing the part of light signals (S) emitted by the emitter element that is backscattered by the particles.

Abstract: A method and a device for warning following vehicles in a group of several sequential vehicles, including at least a leading vehicle, a middle vehicle and a following vehicle, wherein a warning is transmitted from the middle vehicle to the following vehicle. A total distance and a total relative speed between the leading vehicle and the following vehicle are calculated based on measurements made by the middle vehicle. The total distance and total relative speed are used to determine whether a critical approach of the following vehicle to the leading vehicle is occurring, and if so, an automatic warning is transmitted from the middle vehicle to the following vehicle.
