Abstract: A method and a device for operating a vehicle assistance system in that the environment of the vehicle and objects located in the vehicle are determined using detected signals from an environment sensor system. Using the method and device it may be determined whether the roadway lying ahead of the vehicle driving in an automated driving mode is snow-covered and has tire tracks. In the event the tire tracks are there, and depending on the determined course of the tire tracks for the vehicle, a decision is made as to whether a journey along these tire tracks is critical.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method of calibrating a desirable engine speed for power take-off (PTO) operation. In particular, the present invention discloses having an instrument cluster unit (ICU) (102) that allows an operator to select a fourth desirable speed value for PTO operation, and a signal actuating module (SAM) (104) that may be configured to receive the value from the ICU (102) and store the value in its memory. Further, the present invention describes having a common power-train control unit (CPC) connected to the SAM (104) and configured to receive the desirable speed value from the SAM (104), and in response, modify one or more engine parameters to attain the desirable speed value for operating an engine PTO.

Abstract: Cleaning, maintaining, refurbishing, and/or diagnosing engine components including fuel system components, e.g., such as fuel-injectors. In one embodiment, a method of cleaning a fuel system component is provided. The method includes supplying a cleaning solution through the fuel system component, discontinuing the supplying of the cleaning solution, repeating the supplying of the cleaning solution and the discontinuing of the supplying of the cleaning solution a plurality of times, decoupling the source of cleaning solution, and connecting a source of fuel to the fuel system component, and supplying fuel through the fuel system component to re-establish fuel-based operation. In additional embodiments, a method of processing a fuel system component while it remains connected to an engine assembly, and a method of diagnosing a defective fuel system component, are provided.

Abstract: A guide device for guiding a conduit or a medium includes a guide element which delimits a guide channel in which the conduit or the medium is accommodatable and guidable. The guide element has a first layer and a second layer which are disposed one inside the other, are pliable, and delimit a chamber system which is disposed between the first layer and the second layer. The chamber system has a plurality of chambers. The first layer and the second layer are impermeable to a fluid. By acting upon the chamber system with the fluid, the guide element, which is intrinsically pliable, is stiffenable and thereby converted into a rigid state.
Abstract: A fuel injector for a combustion engine. The fuel injector includes a check valve with a return element that is a magnet, by means of which a magnetic field can be provided or is provided, such that, as a result of the decrease in pressure, a second valve element of the check valve can be moved from an open position back into a closed position and held in the closed position.
Abstract: A table device for a vehicle includes a table element positionable from a non-working position to a working position, where in the non-working position the table element is arrangeable vertically in a central console. The table element is disposed on a bracket and the bracket is electrically positionable by a rotary drive where the rotary drive is configured for swivelling the bracket about an axis running parallel to a transverse axis of the vehicle in a direction of a longitudinal axis of the vehicle from the non-working position to an operational position for assuming the working position of the table element. The table element has two parts which, in the non-working position, are folded-up and abut against one another and which, for converting to the working position, are hinged about an axis running horizontally such that respective faces of the two parts run at least essentially in a horizontal plane.
Abstract: A rechargeable metal halide battery shows increased metal halide utilization with the introduction of electronegative heteroatom-enriched conductive additives into a metal halide cathode incorporated into an electrically conductive material. The electronegative heteroatom-enriched conductive additives include nitrogen-doped carbon, such as nitrogen-doped single layer graphene, and oxygen-enriched carbon, such as acid-treated carbon black. The modified batteries utilize 20-30% more metal halide than unmodified batteries resulting in enhanced specific capacity and energy density.

Abstract: A method for checking at least one driving environment sensor of a vehicle is provided. The vehicle is located on a digital map, features of stored stationary objects in an environment of the vehicle, which are expected to be recognized by the driving environment sensor, are identified in the digital map and the environment of the vehicle is sensed using the driving environment sensor. A degradation of the driving environment sensor is deduced if the features to be recognized according to expectations are not recognized by the driving environment sensor or if features actually recognized by the driving environment sensor deviate strongly from the features to be recognized according to expectations.
