Abstract: A support device of a vehicle battery pack of a vehicle. The vehicle battery pack includes a first battery accommodating portion disposed in a first space of the vehicle and a second battery accommodating portion, where the second battery accommodating portion is greater in a vehicle-widthwise dimension than the first battery accommodating portion, where the second battery accommodating portion is connected to the first battery accommodating portion, where the second battery accommodating portion is disposed in a second space, and where the second space is below the first space in a vehicle-heightwise dimension. A frame-side bracket is disposed at a vehicle-widthwise outer surface of a web of a side rail of a ladder frame of the vehicle and projects outward in a vehicle-widthwise direction and a connecting member elastically connects the second battery accommodating portion to the frame-side bracket to suspend the vehicle battery pack to the ladder frame.

Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle having a cylinder, the combustion chamber of which is delimited in the radial direction by a cylinder wall and in the axial direction by a piston and by a combustion chamber roof. The piston has an annularly peripheral piston stage which is arranged axially recessed in the piston compared with an annularly peripheral piston crown and which merges via an annularly jet splitter contour into a piston hollow arranged axially recessed in the piston in relation to the piston stage. An injector is allocated to the cylinder and via the injector several injection jets are simultaneously injected directly into the combustion chamber in a star shape for a combustion process.
Abstract: A lubricating and cooling fluid for an electric motor system including a lubricating base oil, at least one sulfurized component, a dispersant system comprising at least two dispersants, and a friction modifier system comprising at least two friction modifiers. The lubricating and cooling fluid provides good wear and friction performance as well as good copper corrosion and electrical conductivity for use in electric motor system.

Abstract: An arrangement for converting thermal energy from lost heat of an internal combustion engine into mechanical energy where a working circuit is provided for a working medium which can be heated and evaporated using the lost heat. An expansion machine for obtaining mechanical energy from the heat of the working medium is provided in the working circuit where the working circuit extends through a heat exchanger mounted upstream of the expansion engine in the flow direction of the working medium. The internal combustion engine includes a cylinder having a cylinder liner. A cooling duct is provided in the cylinder liner through which the working medium flows. The cylinder liner is formed by centrifugal casting where the cooling duct is introduced into one centrifugal mold as an insert prior to the centrifugal casting.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting surroundings around a vehicle may include the step of periodically scanning the surroundings in a first detection region by a laser scanner. The method may also include detecting the surroundings in a second detection region by an optical camera. The first detection region and the second detection region may at least overlap each other. An optical sensor in the camera may be exposed at least twice within one period of the laser scanner. A first exposure time for a first exposure of the at least two exposures of the optical sensor may be chosen and synchronized with the laser scanner so that the first exposure occurs within a first time window, in which the laser scanner scans the first detection region.

Abstract: A mounting direction determination device and a mounting direction determination method of an acceleration sensor which can automatically determine the direction of the acceleration sensor mounted on a vehicle. The mounting direction determination device determines a mounting direction, relative to a vehicle, of the acceleration sensor that is capable of detecting a first acceleration in a first direction and a second acceleration in a second direction. A mounting direction determination unit determines the mounting direction by comparing values actually measured by the acceleration sensor with determination reference data. The determination reference data specifies a combination of the detection results of the first acceleration and the second acceleration and the mounting directions.
Abstract: A device and a method for controlling a shading system of vehicle windows. A camera system detects image data of the head of a driver. The image data is evaluated to determine a gaze direction of the driver either as a function of a current pose of the head or body position of the driver ascertained based on the image data or as a function of eye positions of the driver determined based on image data. The shading system is controlled when the determined current gaze direction is looking in an interior rear view mirror, in the direction of the rear window, in the direction of one of the side windows, a reverse gear of the vehicle is set/activated, and the vehicle is in operation/activated. The control involves suspending or switching off a current shading/darkening of the rear window or of the side window in the gaze direction of the driver.

Abstract: Methods are disclosed for detecting and lessening fuel starvation conditions in an operating fuel cell system. The fuel cell systems comprise a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell with a regulating apparatus for regulating the pressure of fuel supplied to the anode inlet of the fuel cell, in which the outlet pressure from the regulating apparatus oscillates during operation. The methods involve monitoring an electrical output of the fuel cell during operation, determining the amplitude of oscillation in the electrical output, and then, if the determined amplitude of oscillation in the electrical output exceeds a predetermined amount thereby indicating a fuel starvation condition, taking a remedial action to lessen the fuel starvation condition.
Abstract: A hollow filter element for inserting into a filter device for filtering air, in particular of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, includes a filter material which is held on the end face by a planar surround in a sealed manner. The planar surround has at least one grip recess for handling the hollow filter element. A filter device having such a hollow filter element includes a housing having a housing base part and a housing cover. The housing cover has at least one pin which, upon correct installation of the hollow filter element in the housing base part and when the housing cover is placed on the housing base part, projects into the grip recess of the planar surround.

A number of vehicle functions are activated when at least one specific user menu is selected.
