Abstract: A vehicle drive system comprises an electrical drive motor and a fuel cell system providing the electrical power. According to the invention, the drive motor and the fuel cell are integrated into a unit and firmly joined together. The fuel cell system may comprise two fuel cells or fuel cell stacks, which are arranged relative to each other so as to form a “V”. Peripheral units for operation of the fuel cell may be arranged in an interior of the V.

Abstract: In a motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine providing a hot exhaust gas flow which is used as heat source for a Clausius-Rankine cycle process, wherein a pump is provided in the cycle for pumping, pressurizing and circulating an operating fluid, the pumping operation is controlled by a controller depending on the exhaust gas mass flow through an evaporator and possibly also the exhaust gas temperature to vaporize the operating fluid and expanding the vapor under pressure in an expander while generating energy. The vapor is condensed in a condenser to form a condensate which is again returned to the pump.

Abstract: An operating mode for an internal combustion engine, in particular a directly injected internal combustion engine having a plurality of combustion chambers, in particular for a directly injected gasoline engine, e.g. for a motor vehicle, having low NOx combustion (NAV). During the NAV operating mode that is the subject matter of this invention, at an ignition point (ZZP) a largely homogeneous, lean fuel/exhaust gas/air mixture having a combustion air ratio of ??1 in the respective combustion chamber is spark ignited by an ignition device, whereby the flame front combustion initiated by the ignition device (FFV) transitions to a controlled auto-ignition (RZV). The NAV operating mode enables a controlled auto-ignition to be performed in an engine load range in which a pure RZV operating mode is no longer stable enough to be implemented.
Abstract: A tandem axle having two drivable axles, each axle including a differential gearing with a drive input gearwheel, drivable by a shaft, as a differential gearing input and with two drive input semi-axles driving the wheels of the axle using axle shaft wheels. The wheels of the first axle are permanently positively coupled to the drive input gearwheel of the axle. An activatable distributor wheel is seated on a drive input shaft of the drive input gearwheel of the first axle. The distributor wheel meshes with a through drive shaft wheel which is arranged in a rotationally rigid fashion on a through drive shaft. The output of the through drive shaft is coupled to the input-side drive input gearwheel of the second axle by means of intermediate members. Switchable clutches are arranged in the second axle between the axle shaft wheels and their adjacent wheels.

Abstract: A height-adjustable safety steering column assembly includes a console installed securely on the vehicle and in which an outer jacket tube is pivotably mounted. The outer jacket tube comprising includes a steering spindle having a universal joint and an inner jacket tube, which surrounds a telescoping steering wheel-side section of the steering spindle. The pivotable connection of the outer jacket tube with the console installed securely on the vehicle is implemented by two riveted joints provided diametrically on a circumference of the jacket tube and which form a rotation axis corresponding to the universal joint axis of the steering spindle. For each of the connections formed by two rivets, the console installed securely on the vehicle has a passage leading into a passage of the outer jacket tube. A rivet closing head is seated on the jacket tube side.

Abstract: A main shaft for a transmission or a countershaft for a transmission shall be constructed in an especially light-weight manner. The transmission of high torques, such as is the case for the main shaft or countershaft for a transmission, is problematic when the base body of the shaft consists of a fiber composite material. A metal element (20, 22) is now laminated into the base body, and a gearwheel (28, 30) can then be connected to this metal element (20, 22) in a force-fit manner, so that high torques can be transmitted.
Abstract: In a clearance compensating device for an internal combustion engine with an internal part movably arranged within a guide duct of an external part for adjusting a clearance of an associated valve of the internal combustion engine, a pressure chamber, and a storage chamber which is hydraulically connected to the pressure chamber for receiving hydraulic fluid are associated with the interior part. Between the two chambers a one-way valve is disposed for applying an actuating force to the interior part relative to the external part. A feeding device is hydraulically connected to a blocking chamber for supplying a hydraulic fluid to the blocking chamber in order to exert a blocking force to the internal part acting in a direction opposite the actuating force under the control of a timing device the blocking force being modified depending on a cycle of the timing devices.

Abstract: In a fuel cell stack, fuel, such as often hydrogen, electrochemically reacts with an oxidant, such as ambient air, and electric energy is generated from chemical energy. During the reaction, a proton exchange membrane (PEM) separates the fuel from the oxidant during the electrochemical process. A supply system for the fuel cell stack comprises an adjustable humidifying device for humidifying a supply gas which is supplied to the fuel cell stack, as a function of a control signal; and a dehumidifying device, which is configured to dehumidify an exhaust gas that is formed from the supply gas conducted through the fuel cell stack, and to discharge the same as a dehumidified exhaust gas. A controller, which generates the control signal, is configured from a programming and/or switching point of view to generate the control signal based on the gas temperature of the dehumidified exhaust gas.
