Abstract: The invention relates to a rotary compressor assembly of the type in which an electric motor and a rotary compressor are mounted in a seal capsule and share a common drive shaft. A lubricant storage chamber is formed in the housing adjacent the outboard bearing of the compressor and auxiliary pumping apparatus which includes a conduit equipped with a venturi passage provided for conveying lubricating oil from the pump to the storage chamber. Mechanical apparatus associated with the shaft conveys oil from the storage chamber to the shaft bearings.
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel burner pump assembly of the type having a main regulating valve for controlling a supply of fuel to a burner nozzle and a flow responsive bypass valve for bypassing fluid from the main valve until a predetermined flow rate is achieved. A check valve downstream from the bypass valve and in series therewith has a small predetermined opening pressure which facilitates the operation of the bypass valve. The check valve utilizes a rubber sleeve as the closure member thereof which enhances the operation of the bypass valve by operating to close tightly despite the presence of small dirt particles in the fluid flow.
Abstract: The invention relates to a refrigeration unit of the type having a vessel for cooling water and a heat exchanger for the liquid to be cooled mounted in the vessel. Evaporator tubing is mounted on the inner wall of the vessel and a sensor mounted a predetermined distance from the tubing monitors the formation of an ice layer on the tubing. Control regulation which prevents both freezing and undesired heating of the cooling water is based on controlling the compressor providing first and second temperature ranges associated respectively with first and second sequentially generated time periods.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hydrostatic power steering unit of the type having a gerotor gear set forming a metering motor and a valve unit for routing pressurized fluid from an inlet port selectively via expansible chambers of the gerotor gear set to either one of two motor ports while connecting the other one of the motor ports to an outlet port. The housing of the valve unit, which has inner and outer rotary sleeve members, is arranged adjacent the gerotor gear set. A cardan shaft connects the outer sleeve member to the gerotor star member, a gear head connected to the adjacent end of the outer sleeve is disposed internally of the inner sleeve member. Supply and drain ports and motor ports connectable to an external servomotor are provided in a cover plate which is fastened to the gerotor gear set on the side thereof opposite from the valve unit.
Abstract: The invention relates to a valve assembly for a refrigeration system of the modulating kind used for controlling the flow of refrigerant through the evaporator. The difference between the inlet and outlet temperatures of the evaporator is utilized to control the superheat but the evaporator inlet temperature taken alone is utilized to set different ranges for the valve actuator temperature to accomodate different operating conditions.
Abstract: A PTC starter that is electrically connected to an asynchronous motor by pins that extend through holes into the starter housing, which includes an open top, generally box shaped base portion and a cover having a downwardly opening recess mountable on the base portion. Support structure is provided in the base portion for loosely retaining a disc shaped PTC resistor and a pair of contact members on opposite sides of the resistor in a loose stacked relationship with the resistor, the support structure including a base portion receptacle for loosely retaining an electrical terminal bushing portion adjacent to a contact member. The cover in having its recessed portion moved downwardly along the contact members and resistor result in the contact members being resilient retained in electrical engagement with the resistor electrode surfaces, and at least two terminals extending upwardly through the cover. Advantageously the housing mounts a thermal protective switch for the motor.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for soldering a metal electrode to an electrically conductive silicon carbide ceramic element and to a silicon carbide ceramic element made in accordance with the method. Silicon is used as the solder which provides a good electrical connection and, as the solder has approximately the same coefficient of expansion as the ceramic element mechanical stress due to temperature changes is minimized.

Abstract: The invention relates to a control unit for a hydraulically operated consumer of the type which is used for operating heavily intermittently and loaded machines such as cranes. The consumer is fed in accordance with a load sensing function with pressurized fluid which depends on the opening of the supply valve but is independent of load pressure variations. The invention is directed to minimizing the lagging of the adjustments to different loading conditions to provide more rapid stabilization. This is done by providing the signal conduit with three branches between the inlet and outlet lines to form a pressure dividing arrangement in which the signal pressure is no longer equal to the load pressure but is composed of parts of the load pressure and the output of a pressure regulating valve in the inlet line of the unit. Upon fluctuation in the load the amount of flow is not kept constant but instead decreases with an increasing load and increases with a drop in the load.

Abstract: In a vapor burner for liquid fuel there is an electrically heatable gasifying chamber (1), a passage system (K) concentric therewith for supplying air of combustion, and a burner tube (26) which surrounds a combustion chamber (25) and is bounded at the rear by an annular closure wall (22). The gasifying chamber (1) is formed substantially by a central gasifying tube (2). Guide means (19) serve to produce an external annular eddy (31) of combustion gases that extends along the inside (33) of the burner tube (26) rearwardly at least over a section disposed axially in front of the mouth (23) of the passage system (K). An ionisation measuring electrode (35) placed in the backward flow permits the flame to be accurately detected independently of the flame front which changes with a change in the burner output. When the burner tube (26) glows, there is automatic re-ignition if the flame blows off.

Abstract: The invention relates to a mass flow meter operable on the Coriolis principle having two rectilinear juxtaposed parallel arranged measuring tubes mechanically interconnected at their ends. An oscillator between the tubes produces opposite oscillatory movement of the tubes with a harmonic oscillation superimposed on the fundamental oscillation. Sensors between the tubes on opposite sides of the oscillator sense relative movement between the tubes and generate signals corresponding thereto. A circuit responsive to these signals determines resonant frequencies of the fundamental and harmonic oscillations and derives therefrom a correcting value which gives effect to axial stresses in the measuring tubes to determine a corrected mass flow.

The housing of the valve unit, which has inner and outer rotary sleeve members, is arranged adjacent the gerotor gear set. A cardan shaft which connects the outer sleeve member to the gerotor star member has a gear head connected to the adjacent end of the outer sleeve member but the shaft itself is disposed mostly in the gerotor star member. The bore of the inner sleeve member has a smaller diameter than that of the shaft head connected to the outer sleeve member and the annularly and axially extending valving grooves of the inner valve member may thus have relatively greater radial depths and thereby relatively greater capacity.
Abstract: The invention relates to a thermostatic type of mixer tap having hot and cold water inlets and outlets for discharging water at an intermediate temperature controlled by a thermostatic valve unit. The mixer tap has a mixing chamber to which apportioned amounts of hot and cold water are admitted by the thermostatic valve unit and outlet valve for controlling the flow from the mixing chamber to the outlet. For drinking purposes there is provided a bypass conduit which extends from the cold water inlet to the outlet valve which bypasses the mixing chamber. The outlet valve is operable to selectively connect either the mixing chamber or the bypass conduit to the outlet as desired.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for measuring a force wherein the force to be measured is applied to a beam in an axial direction.
