  • Patent number: 6499517
Abstract: A system for dispensing batches of fluid comprising a flowmeter (5), a pump or valve (6) for starting and stopping the flow and a controller (9) for controlling the pump or the valve. In order to reach a target batch size, the settling time at start of the flowmeter is compensated for as well as for the time it takes to stop the flow by generating a stop signal before the target batch size is reached. Further, to compensate for variations in the actual flow caused by variations in the feed pressure and the like, the compensation is made a function of the actually measured flow. A controller or a batch flow meter for use in dispensing batches is equipped with an interface for setting a compensating time constant and a correction unit for compensation of changes in the flow. The correction unit can consist of a differentiator an a summation circuit. Using digital techniques, the correction unit can be made as a lead filter.

  • Patent number: 6493227
Abstract: A cooling apparatus for power semiconductors, which apparatus is essentially box-shaped, has two extruded cooling sections (14, 15) joined to each other. One of the cooling profiles (14) forms a first heat-conducting side wall (16), and the other cooling profile (15) forms a second heat-conducting side wall (17), opposite the first side wall (16), of the cooling apparatus (1). The side walls (16, 17) have cooling partitions (18, 19) formed on the inner sides of the latter, which cooling partitions bound cooling channels through which a cooling fluid can be conducted. Power semiconductors (4, 5) are to be attached to the outer sides of the side walls (16, 17) in a heat-conducting manner. In order to achieve the largest possible cooling surface of the cooling apparatus, the cooling partitions (18) formed on the first side wall (16) project between the cooling partitions (19) formed on the second side wall (17).

  • Patent number: 6483278
Abstract: A method and power supply device for generating a regulated direct voltage from an alternating voltage using a step-down transformer, a step-up transformer, an inductance coil and a control device that controls the transformer in a step-down or step-up transformation mode is disclosed herein. An inductance coil voltage measuring signal is compared with three limiting values (A, B, C), wherein A corresponds to zero, B lies between A and C and B and C correspond to the direct voltage. Switching from the step-down to the step-up transformation mode is effected when the increasing voltage measuring signal drops after reaching B and A is not reached again and increases to C instead. Switching from step-down to step-up transformation mode is effected when the decreasing voltage measuring signal increases after reaching A and B is not reached and drops to A instead.

  • Patent number: 6478116
Abstract: A lubricating oil supplying arrangement for an apparatus having a rotating apparatus shaft with an oil pump is arranged at one end of the apparatus shaft (23) and is driven by this apparatus shaft (23). A pump housing (2) has a pocket (3) in the form of a chamber open on one side, in which two co-operating displacement elements (4,5) are so arranged that the pump housing (2) covers the displacement elements (4,5) axially on both sides at least in an operative region and in the circumferential direction over a maximum of 180°. The displacement elements (4,5) are held in position by a pump shaft (13). This pump shaft (13) is connected via coupling elements to the apparatus shaft (23) so that they rotate together. This permits a construction having narrow tolerances that is easy to assemble.

  • Patent number: 6468042
Abstract: In a known method for regulating a delivery variable of a pump, which is driven by an electric motor operated with alternating current of variable frequency, especially via a converter, the input power of the motor is measured as the actual value for the delivery variable and is regulated by comparison with a desired value. To avoid the influence of the temperature of the motor on the delivery variable at constant input power, according to the invention upon a change in the temperature in the motor a corresponding compensating variable is taken into account in the control for the purposes of correcting the input power. As an alternative, associated values of the input power and the speed of the motor at a predetermined desired pressure value are determined empirically and stored as a table, and during operation a value of the input power belonging to a measured or approximately calculated speed of the motor is retrieved from the table as desired for regulating the input power.
