  • Patent number: 7208943
Abstract: A robust, low cost, compact and highly accurate rotary position sensor is disclosed for measuring the relative angular position (within a range ?180°) of a housing or stator and a rotor. The housing carries a galvanomagnetic sensing element and is adapted for fixation to a relatively fixed portion of a host system. The rotor carrying a magnet is disposed for rotation about a fixed axis with respect to the stator and is interconnected to a relatively moving portion of the host system through intermediate linkage. The magnet is juxtaposed in substantially axial alignment with the galvanomagnetic sensing element for magnetic interaction therewith. The housing defines a cavity to receive potting material for encasing the galvanomagnetic sensing element and an adjacent buffer cavity interconnected by a weir, which diverts ant excess potting material into the buffer cavity.

  • Patent number: 7210049
Abstract: A controller area network employs a CAN bus for facilitating CAN communications among a plurality of communication controllers switched to an active state. The controller area network further employs a CAN wake-up controller for switching one or more communication controllers to the active state in response to an application of a non-interfering communication biasing signal to said CAN bus. Upon a termination of the application of a non-interfering communication biasing signal to said CAN bus, the CAN wake-up controller switches the communication controller(s) to an inactive state for impeding CAN communications by communication controller(s) via the CAN bus.

  • Patent number: 7204730
Abstract: An electrical inter-connection is provided such that a terminal pin which is positioned in a pin block extends through a plated through-hole in a circuit board substrate and is connected with the circuit board using a conductive bonding agent such as solder. The terminal pin is capable of inter-connection with conductive elements located on each major side of the circuit board and eliminates the need for an interference fit between the terminal pin and circuit board. The pin block includes a body and at least one stand-off. The stand-off maintains the body a sufficient distance from the circuit board substrate to enable a solder fillet to form between the plated through-hole and the terminal pin during re-flow processing. The electrical inter-connection further includes an eccentric aperture in the circuit board suitable for interference fit inter-connection with a protruding cylindrical feature such as on an electrical ground that has poor solderability characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7204082
Abstract: In a diesel engine equipped with a catalytic HC reformer for injecting reformate into the engine exhaust stream to reductively regenerate one or more emissions control devices including but not limited to a lean nitrogen trap, a combustor is disposed in the exhaust stream downstream of the LNT, and preferably downstream of all regenerable emissions control devices, to burn any residual HC, H2, or CO in the tailpipe exhaust gases. Thus only breakthrough amounts of these species are combusted. Preferably, the combustor is operated on an appropriate schedule governed by the operating schedule of the reformer. To assure combustion when the oxygen concentration of the exhaust falls below the reformate combustion limit of approximately 6%, make-up air is ported to the combustor either by diverting a portion of the reformer system air or by diverting excess turbocharger boost air from the engine air intake system.

  • Patent number: 7206558
Abstract: A technique for determining a tuning frequency of an audio receiver includes interrupting a received radio frequency (RF) signal at an input of the audio receiver. Next, a modulated audio signal is injected into the input of the audio receiver. Then, it is determined whether the demodulated audio signal is present at an output of the audio receiver. If not, the frequency of the modulated audio signal is changed until the demodulated audio signal is detected at the output of the audio receiver.
