Patent number: 7229855Abstract: A process for producing a circuit component having a double-sided circuit device between a pair of substrates. The process entails depositing a solder material on contact areas on surfaces of the substrates, placing a first of the substrates within a cavity in a receptacle, and then placing a lead member on the substrate so that the lead member is supported by the receptacle and a portion of the lead member is aligned with a portion of the contact area of the substrate. A fixture is then placed on the lead member and over the substrate so that the fixture is supported by the receptacle. After aligning the circuit device with the contact area of the remaining substrate, the substrate-device assembly is placed in an aperture in the fixture so that a surface of the device electrically contacts the contact area of the first substrate and the opposite surface of the device electrically contacts the contact area of the second substrate. The resulting fixtured assembly then undergoes reflow.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2005Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Ze Etta E. Murphy

Patent number: 7217300Abstract: In a solid-oxide fuel cell assembly comprising a plurality of components having electrically-conductive mating surfaces therebetween, the surfaces are sealed by gasket elements that include first and second silver braze alloy layers and a dielectric layer, formed preferably of yttrium-stabilized zirconia (YSZ), disposed between the alloy layers. The alloy is capable of bonding to many ceramics, including YSZ, and is readily brazed to the oxide layer formed on many metals at elevated temperatures. Because the braze alloy is electrically conductive, a dielectric layer must be included to break conductivity in bonding applications where electrical insulation is required. YSZ functions as a reliable insulator and will not crystallize or fracture as do prior art glass insulators. The assembly is useful as an auxiliary power unit in a vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2003Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Karl J. Haltiner, Jr., Gary F. Patent number: 7218539Abstract: A power system that increases the power capability of a DC/AC converter includes a processor coupled to the DC/AC converter and a memory subsystem coupled to the processor. The memory subsystem stores code that when executed by the processor instructs the processor to perform a number of steps. The processor determines when an electrical load that is coupled to the DC/AC converter causes a link voltage of the DC/AC converter to fall below a first predetermined link voltage level. The processor then controls a DC/AC output inverter of the DC/AC converter to cause the DC/AC converter to provide a non-sinusoidal output waveform. The processor also controls the DC/AC output inverter to cause the DC/AC converter to provide a sinusoidal output waveform, when the link voltage exceeds the first predetermined link voltage level or a second predetermined link voltage level.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2005Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey A. Patent number: 7216481Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for providing reformate into an engine exhaust stream including aftertreatment devices such as a particulate trap and an NOx filter regenerable by hydrogen-rich reformate injected into the engine exhaust ahead of the aftertreatment devices. A pump pressurizes a hydrocarbon catalytic reformer, and a three-way valve for dividing the reformate injected into the engine exhaust. The reformer draws oxygen from the engine exhaust rather than ambient air as in the prior art. Thus, the only pressure drop that the pump/reformer system must overcome is within the reformate supply system between the reformer take-off point and the reformate entry points. In a configuration wherein the exhaust is taken off ahead of the inline particulate trap, a separate particulate filter is preferably incorporated into the reformer supply line.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2005Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: John A.
