Abstract: A processor-implemented method includes performing first parameter optimization of a battery model through a first predetermined optimization technique; switching, based on a count accumulated while performing the first parameter optimization indicating that a switching criterion has been met, from the first optimization technique to a second predetermined optimization technique; performing second parameter optimization of the battery model through the second predetermined optimization technique; and determining a final parameter combination as an optimized parameter of the battery model, in response to an occurrence of an optimization end event during the performance of the second parameter optimization.

Abstract: A method comprising: at a training stage, training a machine learning algorithm on a training set comprising: (i) Heart Rate Variability (HRV) parameters extracted from temporal beat activity samples, wherein at least some of said samples include a representation of a Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) event, (ii) labels associated with one of: a first period of time immediately preceding a VF event in a temporal beat activity sample, a second period of time immediately preceding the first period of time in a temporal beat activity sample, and all other periods of time in a temporal beat activity sample; at an inference stage, receiving, as input, a target HRV parameters representing temporal beat activity in a subject; and applying said machine learning algorithm to said target HRV parameters, to predict an onset time of a VF event in said subject.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of improving the corrosion resistance of a metal substrate surface using an oxygen reduction catalyst, which may improve the corrosion resistance of the metal substrate surface by coating the metal substrate surface with the oxygen reduction catalyst so that the metal substrate surface is changed to a passive state through the action of the oxygen reduction catalyst in an environment in which a stable oxide layer is not spontaneously formed on the metal substrate surface. The present invention has an advantage in that it can dramatically improve the corrosion resistance of the metal substrate under a corrosive environment by allowing a recoverable oxide layer to be formed on the metal substrate surface through the action of the oxygen reduction catalyst, applied to the surface, even in an environment in which an oxide layer is not spontaneously formed on the metal substrate.

According to the present disclosure, it is possible to use the renal proximal tubule-on-a-chip as a bioreactor capable of observing a biological drug reaction similar to a real drug by perfusing various drugs to the renal proximal tubule-on-a-chip.

Abstract: A method for converting heat to mechanical work including providing incoming heat transfer fluid (HTF) at a first temperature to a mixing chamber, providing incoming compressed gas at a second temperature to the mixing chamber, enabling the gas and the HTF to mix, producing a gas-and-HTF mix, enabling the HTF in the gas-and-HTF mix to heat the gas and isothermal expansion of the gas in the gas-and-HTF mix, limiting volume of the gas-and-HTF mix, thereby increasing pressure of the gas and causing acceleration of a flow of the gas-and-HTF mix, causing the gas-and-HTF mix to eject through a nozzle, thereby converting the heat of the HTF to kinetic energy, and using the kinetic energy to produce mechanical work. Abstract: A polymer blend membrane includes a polyether-based copolymer and a polyether polymerized in situ and has high permeability and high selectivity for carbon dioxide.
