    Abstract: A floor stripper composition is provided, having a pH-value above 9.0, and comprising a soap, water and a glycine-N,N-diacetic acid compound, which is preferably methylglycine diacetic acid (MGDA). The diacetic acid is desirably in the form of a divalent metal complex thereof. A process is also provided for removing a zinc containing acrylate polymer film from a floor surface, wherein a floor stripper composition of the invention is applied. A good floor stripper performance could be obtained with this composition owing to its low foaming behaviour.

    Abstract: An all-in-one cooling water treatment composition includes a high concentration of peroxide, preferably hydrogen peroxide, in combination with a polyhydric alcohol and a phosphonate to stabilize the peroxide in a concentrated solution. The composition further includes a yellow metal corrosion inhibitor such as aromatic triazole and optionally polymeric dispersants and ferrous metal corrosion inhibitors and/or molybdate metal corrosion inhibitors. In this composition the phosphonate, preferably HEDP, acts both to stabilize the peroxide and, at the same time, provides anti-scalant treatment for the cooling tower. Due to the stability provided by the HEDP and its anti-scalant properties, this can be formulated as an all-in-one treatment composition which is stable at high concentrations and can be added to effectively control biocidal activity, scale and corrosion.

    Abstract: A concentrated detergent formulation effective to remove grease includes a glycol ether solvent system in combination with a high concentration of a surfactant system stably dispersed in water. The surfactant system is preferably a combination of an hydrotrope and a nonionic surfactant with a concentration preferably in the range of 7% or greater. The glycol ether solvent system can be any of a number of glycol ethers with dipropylene glycol n-butyl ether and dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether preferred. The formulation can be used at high concentrations to effectively remove baked-on grease in deep fryers and clean parking lots and can be used at a lower concentration as a presoak and even at a more dilute concentration for general purpose degreasing and spray and wipe cleaner. The product is low alkaline and non-corrosive.

    Abstract: A process and device for treating and repairing a hard surface consisting of a polymer film, such as a floor surface, are provided. The process comprises the steps of:(i) cleaning said surface with an aqueous cleaning product comprising 0.1-20% by weight of a surfactant and 0.1-80% by weight of a solvent;(ii) applying to the cleaned floor surface a liquid repair product, the properties of which, after drying thereof, being similar to those of the polymer film; and (iii) allowing the thus-treated floor to dry for at least 5 minutes. The device is a manually operated floor treating device specially adapted for use in said process.

    Abstract: An improved lubricant is provided by combining ester lubricants with alkylated polyaromatic lubricants. This combination provides a lubricant that exhibits the oxidation/varnish control of alkylated naphthenics, while at the same time providing the high temperature stability of the ester-type lubricants. A wide variety of ester lubricants can be used such as polyol esters, dimeracid esters and the like. Preferably, the alkylated aromatic lubricant has a viscosity greater than 25 up to 220 cSt measured at 40.degree. C. Greases can also be formed using this combination.

    Abstract: Tableted detergents are formed from a hydrated phosphate sequestrant, caustic, free water and, optionally, fillers by combining the products and tableting the components without permitting the tablets or detergent to exceed 50.degree. C. In a preferred embodiment where fillers are incorporated, all free water is combined with the phosphate sequestrants, both anhydrous and hydrated. After the water has been absorbed by the sequestrants, the filler and caustic can be added and the detergent tableted. The free water is bound sufficiently tightly to the phosphate sequestrant that it does not rapidly react with the anhydrous caustic, maintaining the temperature at less than 50.degree. C., which in turn prevents the water of hydration in the phosphates from reacting and thereby weakening the formed tablets. The tablets can also be formed by combining the filler with the phosphate sequestrants and water and subsequently adding caustic if the detergent is cooled and its temperature maintained below 50.degree. C.

    Abstract: A container for institutional detergents, preferably tablets, includes a rigid large screened base and a flexible plastic film sidewall heat bonded to the peripheral surface of the base. The container is filled, preferably from its top portion, with tableted detergent and closed with a single heat seal along the top surface of the wall of the container. The screen surface is then closed with a removable, peel-off seal or removable cap. The upper portion of the container will include a handle which makes it easy to transport the container and place it into a dispenser for use. In use, a water nozzle will spray upwards onto the surface of the screen base through the holes in the screen, dissolving detergent and allowing the solution to pass downwardly to a drain, which directs it to a ware washing apparatus.

The element comprises a three-dimensional mesh of a multiplicity of the fibers which are connected together to create a multiplicity of irregular liquid paths through the spaces between the fibers, the element having a three-dimensional configuration to fit within a dispensing head of a dispenser. A dispenser for liquids has a dispenser head with a discharge channel in which a foam limiting element is positioned. The discharge channel has means for retaining the element in place whereby all liquid flows through the element before being dispensed. The discharge channel has a wall structure which precludes introduction of air into the liquid to be dispensed.

    Abstract: Stable, silicate-free, soft metal safe, alkaline cleaners are provided. The cleaners comprise calcium ions and surfactants containing hydroxyl and/or carboxylic acid groups or a combination thereof, wherein the total of the two functionalities in each surfactant is greater than or equal to 2, and alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acids. It has been surprisingly discovered that alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acids such as tartaric acid, are capable of keeping calcium ions in an alkali solution. The cleaners may also comprise nonionic surfactants to provide wetting, detergency, and foamability where required, anionic surfactants as viscosity enhancers in the case of high retention cleaners, and solvents such as alcohols, glycol ethers, or hydrotropes to enhance solubility of the system. The alkaline cleaners are safe to use on soft metal surfaces and equipment commonly found in many industries, without the presence of silicate which is normally used as a corrosion inhibitor.
