Abstract: A paint colorant dispenser has a notched gauge rod on a stop member. The notched gauge rod can be easily replaced to change the units of measure for the paint colorant dispenser and is also inexpensive to manufacture. A double notch at an extreme end of the gauge rod facilitates accurate metering of small quantities of paint colorant. The dispenser has a spool valve which includes a resilient sealing member which is biased against an inner surface of a valve bore by a strong spring. The sealing member provides a good seal and accommodates wear without leakage. With the exception of the spring, the valve may be made of plastic. The valve does not need to be manufactured to extremely precise tolerances. The paint colorant dispenser has a wiper assembly coupled to operate with the valve. The wiper assembly includes a resiliently mounted wiper which closes off a lower end of the nozzle except when the valve is set to dispense paint colorant through the nozzle.

Abstract: The present invention relates to oral care compositions with an improved teeth whitening effect. This effect is achieved by inclusion in the oral care compositions of certain organic peroxy compounds as teeth whitening/bleaching agents, particularly peroxyamidophthalamides, sulphoperbenzoic acid, monoperoxyphthalic acid, and (per)acetylatedperboric acid with imine quaternary salts as catalysts for the peroxy compounds.

Abstract: A detergent bleaching composition is provided comprising a compound inclug a specified pentadentate nitrogen-containing ligand. The compound can activate hydrogen peroxide or peroxyacids and provides favourable stain removal properties, particularly in the presence or iron, manganese or copper ions. In addition, an improved stability in alkaline aqueous environment has been obtained, in particular at the peroxy compound concentrations generally present in the fabric washing liquor.

Abstract: A dual-chambered dispenser is provided including a pair of elongated hollow tubes containing separate flowable material streams, a manifold for directing the flow through separate chambers, a cap fitting over dispensing openings of the manifold and a metering valve located within the manifold downstream from the dispensing openings. The valve is present to adjust differences in flow rates between the two material streams. In a preferred embodiment, the tubes are juxtaposed along their respective flat outer walls which may include a series of ribs/depressions allowing for coupling of the tubes and strengthening the flat walls against collapse relative to other wall areas of the tubes. Advantageously the valve is a duckbill type and the tubes taper in a pear shape, the broader portion being near the open end of the tubes.

Abstract: A pulsed combustion high capacity boiler has air inlet flapper valves at an inlet air decoupler toward a combustion chamber, with a fuel supply and an ignitor upstream of the combustion chamber along a flow path. The combustion chamber is immersed in a water jacket, and downstream of the combustion chamber a plurality of exhaust pipes are immersed in the water jacket and lead to an exhaust decoupler. The exhaust decoupler is disposed outside of the water at the periphery of the unit. An orifice assembly along the flow path defines a flow restriction producing turbulence and preferably serially combines a reduction in cross sectional area followed by a diverter having vanes to induce further turbulence. The ignitor and fuel supply are enabled by a controller that senses spark and combustion flame, and also enables a blower at least during a startup interval. The air inlet flapper admits air, opening and closing at a resonant frequency during combustion.
Abstract: For at least one day olive fruits are soaked in vegetable oil, preferably in olive oil, with the effect that polyphenols diffuse into the surrounding oil. The raise of polyphenols in this oil is at least 10 ppm. The migrating polyphenols typically are fat soluble polyphenols. Treated oils show an increased stabilty to oxidation. Their flavor has improved and often receives a higher appreciation than the flavor of the starting oil.
Abstract: An amphiphilic enzyme is immobilized by preparing an emulsion containing a continuous hydrophobic phase and a dispersed aqueous phase containing the enzyme and a carrier for the enzyme, and removing water from the dispersed phase until this phase turns into solid enzyme coated particles. The enzyme is preferably a lipase, and the immobilized lipase can be used for reactions catalyzed by lipase such as interesterification of mono-, di- or triglycerides, de-acidification of a triglyceride oil, or removal of phospholipids from a triglyceride oil when the lipase is a phospholipase. The aqueous phase may contain a fermentation liquid, an edible triglyceride oil may be the hydrophobic phase, and carriers include sugars, starch, dextran, water soluble cellulose derivatives and fermentation residues. A substance to be processed such as triglycerides, diglycerides, monoglycerides, glycerol, phospholipids or fatty acids may be in the hydrophobic phase.
