Abstract: A circuit that detects the power supply voltage requirement of each voltage domain in an IC includes 1) a ring oscillator in each voltage domain, and 2) a power module. Two different circuit implementations of the power module may provide a precise reference voltage to on-chip voltage regulators (LDO or DC-DC switching buck converter). The power module supports DVFS and can provide the desired power supply voltage for advanced CMOS technology nodes (45 nm and beyond) in less than 100 ns. The voltage detection circuit clamps the voltage to the desired level to address power supply voltage variations due to PVT and ageing. The proposed technique has minimal power and area overhead to compensate for the power supply voltage variation, thus reducing power supply voltage margins which yields higher power saving.

Abstract: A method allows reconfigurable multi-element antennas to select the antenna configuration in MIMO, SIMO and MISO communication system. This selection scheme uses spatial correlation, channel reciprocal condition number, delay spread and average Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) information to select the antenna radiation pattern at the receiver. Using this approach, it is possible to achieve capacity gains in a multi-element reconfigurable antenna system without modifying the data frame of a conventional wireless communication system. The capacity gain achievable with this configuration selection approach is calculated through numerical simulations using reconfigurable circular patch antennas at the receiver of a MIMO system that employs minimum mean square error receivers for channel estimation. Channel capacity and Bit Error Rate (BER) results show the improvement offered relative to a conventional antenna selection technique for reconfigurable MIMO systems.

Abstract: A reactor for reforming a liquid hydrocarbon fuel, and associated processes and systems, are described herein. In one example, a two stage process is disclosed in which a first reactor is coupled to a second stage reactor having a reaction volume greater than the first reactor. In the first reactor, the liquid hydrocarbon fuel is partially reformed and thereafter is inputted into the second stage reactor for complete partial oxidation. The reaction product is at last partially synthesis gas, a mixture of carbon monoxide, hydrogen, as well as other low hydrocarbons such as methane, ethylene, ethane, and acetylene. The low hydrocarbons can be reformed further in a solid oxide fuel cell. A portion of the gaseous, rotating contents of the second stage reactor may be input into the first reactor to help generate and sustain rotation within the first reactor.
