Abstract: The present technology pertains to a details pane that is displayed in coordination with a file explorer interface. The details pane can display details including activities, comments, and previews for content items displayed in the details pane. In some embodiments the content items displayed in the file explorer interface can be stored in and accessed from different services, and the details in the details pane can also be populated from diverse sources. In some embodiments, edits or navigations can be performed within a preview of the content item. In some embodiments, comments can be shown along with previews that show the comment located within the content item.

Abstract: Systems and methods for creating content items are provided. In some examples, a method can include receiving a user selection of an interface element located in a persistent user interface of an operating system desktop of a client device, displaying, in response to the user selection of the interface element, a set of user options, the set of user options comprising a option to create a content item of a particular type, receiving a user selection of the option to create the content item, and initiating the creation of the content item.

Abstract: Techniques are described for enabling administrators of teams that use a particular service to specify which sign-on options, of multiple possible sign-on options, are assigned to the members of the teams to which the administrators belong. For example, an administrator may assign a sign-on option, which allows members of the team to use either native authentication or third-party single-sign-on authentication. Upon successful authentication of a member using third party single sign-on authentication, the member is automatically assigned to use only the third party single sign-on authentication.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for a dropsite. In some embodiments, information is received on a creation location and a date and time of creation of a content item, and a determination is made if (i) the date and time of creation is within a predefined span of time, and (ii) the creation location is within a predefined geographical area to permit association of the content item with a shared folder whose inclusion criteria match said date and time and geographic location.

Abstract: An example method can include storing, on a CSM, a first content item and representations of second and third content items, the second content item having content/features enabled by a cloud service and designed for access through a native online application and the third content item having content/features supported by a local application and having additional features designed for access through a cloud service and native online application; when the first content item is invoked, presenting the content/features of the first content item; in response to a request to access the representation of the second or third content item, sending, to a cloud service, a request for the additional features of the third content item or the content/features of the second content item; and based on metadata received from a cloud service, providing the additional features/content of the third content item or the content/features of the second content item.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for managing projects in a content management system. For example, the content management system can create a project folder (e.g., shared folder) for managing data associated with a project. The project folder can be shared with content management system users (e.g., project members) who are contributors to the project. The content management system can store project data (e.g., content items, communications, comments, tasks, etc.) related to the project in the project folder. When the project folder is selected by a user, the content management system can generate a project folder view that presents the project data associated with the project folder and/or project in a convenient and easy to access graphical user interface. The content management system can aggregate project data from various content items associated with the project and present the project data in a single graphical user interface.

Abstract: One or more embodiments of a digital content system allow a user to conveniently search and/or navigate through a collection of digital content items. In particular, a user can interact with a client device to search for and identify one or more digital content items within a collection of digital content items. For example, the digital content system may provide a photo from a collection of photos via a graphical user interface. The digital content system can receive a user input identifying a selection of one or more visual features within the photo. Based on the selected visual feature(s), the digital content system may identify photos from the collection of photos that include the identified visual feature(s) and provide access to the identified photos via the graphical user interface.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to ways to avoid file duplication in a cloud storage service. In some aspects, a method of the technology includes steps for retrieving, via a computer network, one or more files from a first memory location, identifying a first signature and a second signature for each of the files, and storing the first signature and the second signature into a duplication reference list. In some aspects, the method further includes steps for analyzing files in a second memory location to identify duplicate files using the duplication reference list. Systems and computer-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: One or more embodiments of a content system provide machine-learned storage location recommendations for storing content items. Specifically, an online content management system can train a machine-learning model to identify a storage pattern from previously stored content items in a plurality of storage locations corresponding to a user account of a user. Training the machine-learning model includes training a plurality of classifiers for the plurality of storage locations. The online content management system uses the classifiers to determine whether a content item is similar to the content items in any of the storage locations, and based on the output of the classifiers, provides graphical elements indicating recommended storage locations within a graphical user interface. The user can select a graphical element to move the content item to the corresponding storage location.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for identifying accounts having shared credentials. In some implementations, a content management system can collect user login context data when a user logs in to or accesses a user account of the content management system. For example, the content management system can collect client device data, client application data, internet protocol (IP) address data, and/or other data from the user's device when the user logs in to the user account. The content management system can analyze the login context data to determine patterns that indicate that the user account login credentials are being shared among multiple users.

Abstract: The disclosed technology relates to a system configured to identify a set of modifications based on a set of tree data structures including a sync tree, a remote tree, and a local tree. The sync tree represents a known synced state between a server state and a file system state, the remote tree represents the server state, and the local tree represents the file system state. The system is further configured to select a set of unblocked modifications from the set of modifications based on whether each modification has a dependency and execute, based on the set of unblocked modifications, a set of tasks configured to converge the server state and the file system state.

Abstract: A collaborative content management system is disclosed herein for receiving a command to add an annotation object following a character input into a line of a collaborative content item. The system inserts an annotation object onto the line following the character, detects a selection of the annotation object, and displays a secondary collaborative content item in visual association with the character. The system detects textual content that corresponds to a citation within the secondary collaborative content item, and responsive to detecting the textual content, generates for display a template for inputting fields of a citation. The system receives text entered into one or more of the fields, generates a citation based on the text, and inputs the citation into the secondary collaborative content item.

Abstract: A notes system is presented with a content management system. The notes system manages creation and distribution of edits to notes to users sharing the notes. The notes are stored as a series of edits at the notes system. When an edit to a note is received, the edit is propagated to users subscribed to a note by a backend server responsible for managing the note. The shared users are notified through application servers associated with each shared user. The notes server includes various indices for searching the notes and allows notes to be searched quickly to organize viewing by a user of notes and identification of relevant material in the notes. The stored edits are used to display edits to a note to a user by replaying the accessed note to the user.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for shared folder backed integrated workspaces. In some implementations, a content management system can provide a graphical user interface (GUI) that integrates communications and content management into a single user interface. The user interface can include mechanisms that allow a user to provide input to generate a new workspace. The user interface can provide a mechanism to allow a user to view conversations related to the workspace and/or content items associated with the workspace. The user interface can present representations of content items associated with the workspace and allow the user to provide input to generate, view, edit, and share content items associated with the workspace.

Abstract: The present technology provide a mechanism for displaying and initiating actions and workflows for objects with a single drag-and-drop operation in association with a content management system. Drag operations may be monitored to trigger monitoring of a pointer performing the drag operation to detect whether the pointer is within a threshold distance from a chosen aspect, such as a system tray icon, and/or an area of a temporary invisible window. Upon detection, the drag operation of the objects may seamlessly trigger a presentation of a menu window. The menu window may display one or more icons representing different actions and workflows for which the object may be dropped, via a drop operation, upon to indicate a selection.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide a commenting system for multiple users to provide and share comments to shared documents. For example, users can share a web link to a collection of content items, such as documents, spreadsheets, photos, and any other media, with other users stored in an online content management system. The commenting system can provide a comment interface displayable alongside a respective content item and the comments can be saved for each user and the content item with associated comments can be synced across the multiple users. The comments can scroll independently of the content in a content item or the comments can be linked to a location therein and the scrolling of the comments can be linked to the scrolling of the content item such that corresponding comments are displayed.

Abstract: An online content management service can collect and store receipts for a user from a variety of sources, including images captured by the user, messages received for the user at a messaging service or message management service, and/or receipts directly uploaded to the online content management service by a merchant. In the case of receipts provided as messages, a user can interact with a message management service to identify messages as receipts, and the message management service can upload such messages to the online content management service.

Abstract: Computer-implemented techniques for automatically coordinating application schema changes in a distributed data storage system. The techniques improve the operation of a computing system by automating the deployment of application schemas changes to a distributed data storage system in a manner that does not introduce orphaned data inconsistencies or integrity inconsistencies to the application data stored in the distributed data storage system. The techniques include a schema change deployment protocol that ensures that all of the database servers of the distributed data storage system are using no more than two consecutive versions of the application schema at any given time.
