  • Patent number: 4718186
Abstract: Articulated connection between the break-open action and the at least one barrel of a rifle with two coaxial pairs of articulation members, the two articulation members (1a and 2a) of each pair complementing each other, and respectively one articulation member being provided at the break-open action (1) and, respectively, at the corresponding sidewall of the barrel (20). These articulation members (1a and 2a) exhibit a coupling profile (P1 and P2, respectively) ensuring a shape-mating connection between the break-open action (1) and the barrel (20) also transversely to the firing direction, this coupling profile permitting utilization of the axial pressure (S) produced during firing for generating a component force that is perpendicular to the aforementioned axial pressure (S) and counteracts the spreading apart of the sidewalls (1b) of the break-open action (1).

  • Patent number: 4715895
Abstract: The present invention relates to the production of molds for the casting of metal. The molds are made of refractory materials bound together by a binding agent on the basis of a partially hydrolyzed, partially condensed silicic acid ester. A slip consisting of binding agent and refractory material is applied to the model alternately with a granular refractory sanding material. In accordance with the invention, the granular refractory sanding material contains the agent for hardening the binding agent. The method of the invention makes possible the dimensionally accurate reproduction of even relatively large models, while the slip can be stored over a relatively long period of time without loss of its action.

  • Patent number: 4707274
Abstract: A multistage arrangement for countercurrent separation of suspended solids, such as crystals, by means of hydro-cyclone groups connected in series and corresponding pumps and pump wells. For operating with relatively small expenditures with respect to apparatus under high pressures and at high temperatures within a certain, limited temperature range, the hydro-cyclone groups, the pump wells with pumps projecting into the pump wells, and the essential parts or regions of the lines are placed in a common pressure-proof and heat-insulated chamber. In addition, for removing coarser crystallizations and solid particles, an upstream classifier also accommodated in the chamber may be provided. The multistage arrangement can be used in a process for the production of terephthalic acid from dimethyl-terephthalate as the intermediate product, and in a process for the hydrogenation of coal.

  • Patent number: 4677215
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for the production of silicon ester halides by the equilibration of chlorosilanes and silane esters. Organic phosphorous compounds are used as catalysts. These catalysts make it possible to obtain a virtually pure end product with a defined partial ester structure, and they reduce the formation of undesired by-products. The final distillation can also be performed in the presence of these catalysts without the occurrence of any disproportioning destruction of the reaction products.

  • Patent number: 4673751
Abstract: A method for the preparation of 3,4-dihydro-alpha-pyrones by the thermolysis of 5-hydroxymethyl-gamma-butyrolactone in a liquid medium at temperatures between 300.degree. and 400.degree. C. and in the presence of aluminosilicates as catalysts is disclosed. The dihydropyrone that forms is distilled out of the reaction medium together with the reaction water immediately after its formation. Heat transfer oils, including, for example, polynuclear aromatic compounds joined together by methylene bridges or other bridge groupings, are especially suitable as heat transfer oils. The method has the advantage of permitting the temperature to be regulated within a definable range so that secondary reactions due to local overheating or imprecise temperature control occur to only a limited degree if at all.

  • Patent number: 4671910
Abstract: Closed-cell foam molded parts or articles of crosslinked polyolefin are manufactured according to a process comprising the steps of filling a foamable and crosslinkable polyolefin composition containing a blowing agent and a crosslinking agent into a closed mold and molding a correspondingly shaped, foamable product under pressure, the crosslinking reaction progressing without decomposition of the blowing agent; subsequent heating of the resultant foamable, crosslinked product to a blowing temperature between a pair of metal plates, wherein the product can expand biaxially within the region left between the metal plates; and then heating of the thus-obtained intermediate product under low pressure of about 1 bar so that it can expand into all directions with complete decomposition of the residual blowing agent to result in the completely foamed molded part.
