  • Patent number: 6100321
Abstract: Ethylene/(meth)acrylic acid ionomers which have been modified with relatively low levels of a stearic acid moiety, particularly metal stearates and especially calcium stearate have improved resilience for a given level of hardness or PGA Compression values. The improvement is seen in bulk material when measurements are made on solid neat spheres. When used as cover material, the improvement is more manifest for softer material, and is less, or disappears, for typical mixed metal ionomer hard covers. The stearic-modified ionomers or ionomer blends are especially useful when the ionomer is formulated for use as a golf ball core, center, one-piece ball and as a soft golf ball cover. For covers, softer ionomer compositions will show an improvement.

  • Patent number: 6100510
Abstract: A control device includes both a heating element and a temperature sensor. The control device has the form of a Wheatstone bridge which applies sensing current to the heating element. When the bridge is unbalanced, the control device may apply heating current to the heating element. In one embodiment, the sensing current is switched, so that it flows only for a relatively small part of the electrical cycle. The circuit also includes a provision for reduction or elimination of electrical spikes. The circuit further includes a calibration arrangement, which enables the user to adjust the bridge without passing heating current through the heating element. Another feature of the invention enables the set point of the bridge to be remotely controlled, by adjusting a level of analog current applied to the bridge. The circuit also includes an arrangement for compensating for temperature-induced changes in its components.

  • Patent number: 6094816
Abstract: Plastic tube-type heat exchanger structures are made with partially crystallized partially aromatic polyamides of high glass transition temperature. The structures are then annealed to further crystallize the polyamides, causing shrinkage and building up residual tensile stresses. These stresses counteract the swelling caused by water absorption and temperature rise during use of the heat exchanger and keep the structures dimensionally stable.

  • Patent number: 6095206
Abstract: A method and device for filling a container with liquid up to a predetermined level. The device includes a cylinder and a piston movable within the cylinder between a rest position and a fill position. A supply of liquid for filling the container is provided to a first end of the piston at alternating pressures to cycle the piston back and forth between the rest and fill positions. Each time the piston reaches its fill position, supply liquid is added to the container. With each cycle the device draws fluid from the container and then attempts to compress the drawn fluid with a second end of the piston. When the fluid drawn is gas, the piston can compress the gas to continue moving to the fill position. When the drawn fluid is liquid, the piston can not compress the liquid and thus is stopped to prevent further filling.
