Abstract: A system and device for loading and transporting a vehicle on a vehicle transporting surface simplifies the loading of vehicles by aligning the vehicle as it is loaded and holds the vehicle securely in alignment once loaded. The vehicle loading device is formed with an angulated surface that is attached to the side of the vehicle transporting surface. A flat plate attaches to the angulated surface and a brace extends downward from the far edge of the flat plate and rests against the side of the vehicle transporting surface. The vehicle is loaded onto the vehicle transporting surface with the angulated surface pressing against the interior of tracks or wheels of the vehicle. The angulated surface forces an initially misaligned vehicle to slide into proper alignment on the vehicle transporting surface. Opposing forces are thus exerted on the inside of the tracks and wheels which cause and maintain proper alignment.
Abstract: The present invention relates to cosmetic or pharmaceutical formulations for topical application which comprises an antimicrobial effective amount of 3-furan carboxylic acid. The formulation also optionally comprises an anti-irritant effective amount of ferulic acid and an antimicrobial effective amount of 2-furan carboxylic acid.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method of manufacturing oriented cellulose films by spinning non-derivated cellulose dissolved in amino oxides into a precipitating bath. The cellulose solution is extruded downward through a film-blowing nozzle and an external air gap into the precipitating bath. The spun cellulose film can be inflated after exiting the film-blowing nozzle.

Abstract: A squaring machine has an elongate housing with a rotatable spindle extending from one end thereof and attached to which is a tool for squaring the end of work piece. At the opposite end of the housing are first and second feed members, the first feed member in the form of a screw which is locked against axial movement within the housing, and the second feed member in the form a nut which is locked against rotation with respect to the housing. The feed nut is rotatably connected to an end of the spindle such that rotation of the feed screw will cause axial movement of the spindle. Also, the machine includes a first and second removable retainers, each of which has a pair of opposing jaws for clamping around a cylindrical work piece, however, the jaws of the first retainer are for grasping a work piece of a different size than the jaws of the second retainer.

The carbonaceous layer includes at least one carbonaceous cathode block having an upper surface and a lower surface, with a plurality of electrical contact plugs being mounted in electrical contact with the lower surface of the cathode block. A collector plate is in electrical contact with the electrical contact plugs. The electrical contact plugs are distributed over the lower surface of the cathode block such that in operation of the cell, a substantially isopotential surface is achieved at the top surface of the cathode block.

Abstract: A generally rectangular shaped universal pickup cradle (50, 154 or 156 ) for an electric musical stringed instrument (20 or 150) allows a plurality of different pickups (50, 154, 156) to be interchangeably inserted into the stringed musical instrument. In addition, there are one or more receptacle cavities (36, 38, 40, 152) in the stringed musical instrument (20, 150) so that any of the universal pickup cradles (50, 154, 156) may be placed within any of the receptacle cavities. The universal pickup cradles (50, 154, 156), in combination with a separate electronics module (177, 200), provide a flexible and upgradeable system for an electric stringed instrument.
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for insuring that excessive demand is not placed on a refrigeration unit that supplies pressurized subcooled refrigerant to different channels having independent needs for use of refrigeration capacity. A separate reference channel receives a portion of the refrigerant and expands the refrigerant fully to a gas phase to establish a minimum level reference temperature. In the operative channels the refrigerant flows into individual evaporators/heat exchangers at rates set by external command signals, the refrigerant being in heat exchange relation with thermal transfer fluid in the evaporator/heat exchanger. Evaporation of refrigerant in each channel thus brings the thermal transfer fluid for that channel to the target temperature. By comparing the post evaporation temperature in each channel to the reference temperature, and reducing the refrigerant flow rate whenever the difference is below a threshold, individual channels are not overtaxed and the system remains stable.

Abstract: A multiple beam antenna system including a reflector that is at least partially parabolic in one dimension, a pair of dielectric lenses, and a pair of waveguides. Multiple received beams are received and reflected by the reflector into an orthogonal mode junction which separates signals of a first polarity from signals of a second orthogonal polarity. The signals of the first polarity are forwarded into a first waveguide and the orthogonal signals of the second polarity are forwarded into a second parallel waveguide. A plurality of satellites may be accessed simultaneously thus allowing the user to utilize both signals at the same time. In certain embodiments, each of the dielectric lenses may be of the bifocal type.

Abstract: A vehicle and luggage box assembly (40) includes a vehicle (42) and a luggage box (44). The luggage box (44) includes an open-ended chamber (61) with a flange (62) that extends perimetrically around an open end (49). A perimetrical chamber (66) is molded inside the flange (62). A perimetrical groove (68) is cut through the flange (62) and into the perimetrical chamber (66), thereby forming a perimetrical T-slot (70). A resilient gasket (72) is inserted perimetrically into the perimetrical T-slot (70), and a door (48) of the vehicle (42) closes against the resilient gasket (72). The molding process forms two separate chambers (66 and 94) in a single mold (100) by constructing a throat opening (122) with a dimension (120) that results in bridging across the throat opening (122), and that thereby results in the perimetrical chamber (66) being isolated from the closed chamber (94). Subsequently, removal of a web (92) transforms the closed chamber (94) into the open-ended chamber (61).
