Patent number: 6091231Abstract: An electric current generation device includes a rotatable rotor including a magnet assembly establishing a magnetic field proximate the rotor. A stator includes at least one set of coils disposed with respect to the rotor so that rotation of the rotor moves the magnetic field with respect to the coils of the coil set to generate electric current flow in the coil set. The coil set includes an impedance component in communication with the electric current flow to limit the rate of increase of electric current flow generated by the coil set as the rotational speed of the rotor increases. The winding direction of at least one coil with respect to the magnetic field may be opposite the winding direction of the other coils with respect to the magnetic field. Two coil sets may be provided wherein the coils of a first coil set are wound so that the output of the first coil set is out of phase with respect of the output of a second coil set.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1997Date of Patent: July 18, 2000Assignee: R. Patent number: 6087964Abstract: A programmable vehicle detector with operator actuatable function selection and parameter value setting keys, and an operational display. A small cluster (four) of key switches enables an operator to select programmable vehicle detector functions, such as pulse/presence, scanning/non-scanning, end of green control; and also adjust the value of settable parameters, such as loop frequency, sensitivity, delay time, and maximum presence time. The value of certain parameters is displayed, either by manual interrogation by operation of the switches during a set mode or automatically during normal operation. During normal operation, the display also indicates dynamically the relative value of the loop inductance, using a unique bar graph, the generation of Call a signal, and the time remaining in a delay time period and a maximum presence time period. The display further indicates which of several channels has been selected for function and parameter programming, or is currently being monitored for operation.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1997Date of Patent: July 11, 2000Assignee: Reno A & EInventors: Robert S. Patent number: 6083586Abstract: Compositions and methods for manufacturing sheets having a starch-bound matrix, optionally reinforced with fibers and optionally including an inorganic mineral filler. Suitable mixtures for forming the sheets are prepared by mixing together water, unmodified and ungelatinized starch granules, a cellulosic ether, optionally fibers, and optionally an inorganic mineral filler in the correct proportions to form a sheet having desired properties. The mixtures are formed into sheets by passing them between one or more sets of heated rollers to form green sheets. The heated rollers cause the cellulosic ether to form a skin on the outer surfaces of the sheet that prevents the starch granules from causing the sheet to adhere to the rollers upon gelation of the starch. The green sheets are passed between heated rollers to gelatinize the starch granules, and then to dry the sheet by removing a substantial portion of the water by evaporation.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1998Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: E.
