Publication number: 20110289391Abstract: The inventive concept enables backward-compatible extension of existing interleaver-based transmission systems to the effect that in addition to an existing logical transport channel, which is interleaved using a standardized interleaver profile, further logical transport channels may be transmitted via the same physical transmission channel. In this context, the first transport channel obviously is reduced in terms of data rate, so that the additional transport channels may actually obtain a transmission capacity that is needed accordingly. Interleaver profiles of the further logical transport channels are derived, to this end, from the interleaver profile of the first transport channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2011Publication date: November 24, 2011Applicant: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.Inventors: Marco BREILING, Ernst EBERLEIN, Rainer HILDINGER, Holger STADALI, Aharon Jesus VARGAS BARROSO

Publication number: 20110289333Abstract: The invention relates to a method for dynamically distributing one or more services in a network comprised of a plurality of computers. According to certain aspects of the invention, a past chronological progression of a resource capacity required for a respective service according to a prescribed service requirement is derived from a past chronological progression of the resource demand for the respective service in a predetermined time interval. The past chronological progression of the resource capacity required for the respective service is then used to predict a chronological progression of the resource capacity required for the respective service. The services performed on the computers are finally distributed based on one or more optimization criteria, including that the respective computers provide enough resources for the services performed on the respective computers based on the predicted chronological progressions of the resource capacities required for the respective services.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2011Publication date: November 24, 2011Applicant: OFFIS e. Publication number: 20110288873Abstract: An audio encoder for providing an output signal using an input audio signal includes a patch generator, a comparator and an output interface. The patch generator generates at least one bandwidth extension high-frequency signal, wherein a bandwidth extension high-frequency signal includes a high-frequency band. The high-frequency band of the bandwidth extension high-frequency signal is based on a low frequency band of the input audio signal. A comparator calculates a plurality of comparison parameters. A comparison parameter is calculated based on a comparison of the input audio signal and a generated bandwidth extension high-frequency signal. Each comparison parameter of the plurality of comparison parameters is calculated based on a different offset frequency between the input audio signal and a generated bandwidth extension high-frequency signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2011Publication date: November 24, 2011Applicant: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.Inventors: Frederik NAGEL, Sascha DISCH, Guillaume FUCHS, Juergen HERRE, Christian GRIEBEL

Publication number: 20110286479Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a compact and low-cost system for generating ultra short high energy laser light pulses that does not use the known CPA scheme. The proposed approach is based on spectral filtering of laser light pulses of a mode locked laser source. The used mode locked laser source can be of any kind as long as its filtered residual pulse bandwidth supports pulse durations longer than 20 ps and up to 1 ns. After filtering the laser light pulses are directly amplified in an amplification element consisting of one or more amplification stages. At the same time or just after amplification the light pulses are spectrally broadened through a spectral broadening element, for example a fiber of suitably chosen core diameter and length to achieve a spectral bandwidth that is wide enough to support sub 10 ps pulses. Finally, the spectrally broadened laser light pulses are compressed by a compact dispersive element consisting of one or more Bragg gratings or a grating pair.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 21, 2010Publication date: November 24, 2011Applicant: FRAUNHOFER-GESELLSCHAFT ZUR FOERDERUNG DER ANGEWANDTEN FORSCHUNG E.V.Inventors: Jens Limpert, Andreas Tuennermann
