Patent number: 8049880Abstract: A system for time resolved spectroscopy comprises a CCD device arranged to receive a time varying spectrum. Time resolved spectroscopy is the analysis of a spectrum that varies with time due to any cause. The variation with time of the spectrum may be due, for example, to (i) changes of the spectrum from a given sample space with time (such as due to emission decay); and (ii) changes in the spectrum as successive portions of a sample space are sampled (such as laser scanning microscopy). The CCD device comprises an array of photosites arranged to detect the time varying spectrum and to produce signal charge representative of the spectrum, and one or more CCD multiplication registers arranged to receive the signal charge and to provide charge multiplication. An enhancement of speed and sensitivity is given by a storage area which receives the signal charge in parallel from the array of photosites to provide the charge in serial to the one or more multiplication registers.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2006Date of Patent: November 1, 2011Assignee: E2V Technologies (UK) LimitedInventors: Mark Stanford Robbins, Raymond Thomas Bell

Publication number: 20110264456Abstract: Binaural rendering a multi-channel audio signal into a binaural output signal is described. The multi-channel audio signal has a stereo downmix signal into which a plurality of audio signals are downmixed, and side information having a downmix information, as well as object level information of the plurality of audio signals and inter-object cross correlation information. Based on a first rendering prescription, a preliminary binaural signal is computed from the first and second channels of the stereo downmix signal. A decorrelated signal is generated as an perceptual equivalent to a mono downmix of the first and second channels of the stereo downmix signal being, however, decorrelated to the mono downmix. Depending on a second rendering prescription, a corrective binaural signal is computed from the decorrelated signal and the preliminary binaural signal is mixed with the corrective binaural signal to obtain the binaural output signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 6, 2011Publication date: October 27, 2011Applicants: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V., Dolby Sweden AB, Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Jeroen KOPPENS, Harald MUNDT, Leonid TERENTIEV, Cornelia FALCH, Johannes HILPERT, Oliver HELLMUTH, Lars VILLEMOES, Jan PLOGSTIES, Jeroen BREEBAART, Jonas ENGDEGARD

Publication number: 20110259858Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for the laser deposition welding of powdery welding material having increased flexibility and reduced costs, in particular for systems engineering. The powdery welding material is conveyed via a nozzle coaxial with respect to a laser beam directed in a focused manner with a constant focal length onto a processing region of a workpiece through the nozzle onto the processing region. A plurality of optical elements are statically arranged in a laser optical unit for the shaping and beam guidance of the laser beam. The laser optical unit it attached to a processing head and can be moved with the processing head parallel to the optical axis of the laser beam by a first drive.
