Abstract: The present application is directed to a technological platform with integrated microfluidic and optical modules for bio-detection. The platform enables in-situ detection by integrating fluidics with optical source and detection capabilities within a fabricated microchip. The platform is a polymer-based microfluidic chip having integrated excitation source and detection elements in a vicinity of a microfluidic reaction chamber configured to contain a micro-volume of a test sample. The principle of detection is based on an excitation source induced fluorescence of the test sample within the microfluidic reaction chamber.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a process for producing unmeltable polysilane-polycarbosilane copolymers which are soluble in inert solvents, comprising the steps providing the product of a disproportionation of a methylchlorodisilane or a mixture of several methylchlorodisilanes of the composition Si2MenCl6-n, wherein n=1-4, wherein the disproportionation was carried out with a Lewis base as a catalyst, wherein this product is a chlorine-containing, crude polysilane/oligosilane containing hydrocarbon groups, and thermally postcrosslinking the crude polysilane/oligosilane to a polysilane-polycarbosilane copolymer, characterized in that the chlorine content of the polysilane-polycarbosilane copolymer is lowered by reacting the crude polysilane/oligosilane with a substitution agent, by which chlorine bound therein is replaced with a chlorine-free substituent. Green fibers and low-oxygen/oxygen-free ceramic fibers with a very low chlorine content can be produced using this process.

Abstract: The invention relates to a herbicide formulation comprising a water soluble salt of n-phosphomethylglycine and at least one adjuvant, the said adjuvant consisting in an alkoxylated imidazoline with the following structure I wherein R1 is a saturated or unsaturated C4 to C24 fatty acid. The use of the alkoxylated imidazoline provides as a result a herbicide formulation that is not irritant to the skin or the eyes. Furthermore, the adjustment of the degree of ethoxylation or propoxylation of the imidazoline permits the compatibility thereof with the various glyphosate salts, allowing the obtainment of concentrated solutions that maintain stability at temperatures higher than 60° C., without requiring other adjuvants.
Abstract: Noble metal catalysts and methods for producing the catalysts are provided. The catalysts are useful in applications such as fuel cells. The catalysts exhibit reduced agglomeration of catalyst particles as compared to conventional noble metal catalysts.
Abstract: A protective cover support rack for electronic devices includes at least a protective cover body, a support lid and a hinge assembly. The protective cover body has an inner rim with an annular U-shaped trough formed thereon to hold and encase the body of an electronic device, and a lower half portion to cover the back side of the electronic device. The hinge assembly includes two hinge means each has one end fastened to one lateral side of the protective cover body and another end fastened to the bottom side of the support lid. Thereby the support lid can be adjusted at an angle smaller than 360 degrees to allow users to swivel to the front side as required to protect the screen of the electronic device, or adjust to a standing position to facilitate viewing, or fold it to fully in contact with back side of the protective cover body at a storing position, or swivel to facilitate hand grasping in use, thus provide diversified usages and improve practicality.

Abstract: A method is provided for making an electrical connection with a microelectronic component arranged on or embedded within a surface of a circuit board layer or a substrate. The microelectronic component has an electrical contact face that is accessible on a surface of the microelectronic component. An electrically conducting bump is applied to the electrical contact face of the microelectronic component. A metal foil or metal coat is applied via a coating of an insulating binder to the surface of the circuit board under an action of pressure and/or heat so that the electrically conducting bump penetrates the coating of the insulating binder to make the electrical connection between the metal foil or metal coat and the electrical contact face.

In one embodiment, the halogenated hydrocarbon is trifluorotrichloroethane and the halo-olefin is chlorotrifluoroethylene.
Abstract: An entropy encoder includes an apparatus for producing a data stream which comprises two reference points, of code words of variable lengths, the apparatus comprising a first device for writing at least a part of a code word into the data stream in a first direction of writing, starting from a first reference point, and a second device for writing at least a part of a code word into the data stream in a second direction of writing, which is opposite to the first direction of writing, starting from the other reference point. In particular, when a raster having a plurality of segments is used to write the code words of variable lengths into the data stream, the number of the code words which can be written starting at raster points is doubled, in the best case, such that the data stream of code words of variable lengths is robust toward a propagation of sequence errors.
