Abstract: This invention relates to a protected organotin-based catalyst system for polyurethane synthesis that is useful in coatings applications. The catalyst has a formula according to; R1aR2bR3cSn[CH(OX)R4]d, wherein R1, R2, and R3 are the same or different and represent an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, aromatic, alkoxide, amide, halide or stannyl group, R4 represents an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl or optionally substituted aryl group. a, b, and c are independently 0, 1, 2, or 3; d is 1, 2 or 3; and a+b+c+d=4; and X is an acid-labile or moisture-labile protecting group. When a coating mixture comprising the catalyst is sprayed and/or applied to a substrate as a thin film in air, the catalyst is activated. For solvent-based refinish systems comprising hydroxyl and isocyanate species at high solids levels, the catalyst system therefore provides extended viscosity stability, i.e., pot life.

Abstract: A method of fabricating the flexible color display medium module includes the steps of: forming a flexible substrate on a rigidly substrate; forming a color filter film comprising a plurality of color filter patterns; forming the display medium layer on the color filter film; and separating the flexible substrate from the rigidly substrate. Since the display medium layer is immediately disposed on the color filter film, the accuracy of aligning the display medium layer and the color filter film may be improved and the parallax resulted from the light passed through the display medium layer and the color filter film may be reduced.

Abstract: De-airing of PVB/glass laminates can be improved, while haze in the pre-press is minimized and sleep time reduced as a result using a PVB sheet having a roughened surface with directionality. A roughened surface with a washboard pattern that is useful in this regard can be obtained by varying certain conditions of a melt-fracture extrusion process.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for detecting a leak in a closed loop heat transfer system comprising monitoring the pressure of the heat transfer composition inside said heat transfer system, wherein a drop in pressure indicates a leak. Also disclosed is a heat transfer system comprising an evaporator, a compressor, a condenser, an expander and a device for measuring internal system pressure. The system pressure measuring device is disposed inside the closed loop heat system. The internal system pressure measuring means may be located either between the evaporator and the condenser, between the expander and the evaporator, between the compressor and the condenser, or between the condenser and the expander.
Abstract: A process for forming a multilayer film includes coating a polymeric substrate film with a liquid fluoropolymer coating. The liquid fluoropolymer coating includes a fluoropolymer, solvent, a compatible cross-linkable adhesive polymer, and a cross-linking agent. The process further includes cross-linking the compatible cross-linkable adhesive polymer to form a cross-linked polymer network in the fluoropolymer coating, removing the solvent from the fluoropolymer coating, and adhering the fluoropolymer coating to the polymeric substrate film.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a polycyanurate foam with a structural element A and either terminal amino groups and/or at least one of the following structural elements B, C, or D: wherein the foam has closed pores that contain carbon dioxide. This foam can be produced in that a substance is worked into the starting material for the polycyanurate that releases water or alcohol approximately at the start of polymerization either spontaneously or thermally or catalytically induced. The water/alcohol reacts with free cyanate groups under cleavage of CO2. The resulting amino groups can react further in the polymerization.

Abstract: The invention is directed to water-dispersible, substantially homogeneous artificial diets and diet formulations which provide honey bees with a fully nutritious, complex mixture of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, and vitamins in an easily digestible form. The diets of the invention support growth and development of honey bees, sustain brood rearing, and maintain hive vigor, and thus make possible the continuous rearing of bees using an artificial diet. The invention diets are useful for many purposes, and are particularly advantageous for providing nutrition sources for bees that are moved during commercial crop pollination or for other migratory beekeeping uses.
