  • Patent number: 7807952
Abstract: A CCD device of the type which provides gain by impact ionisation in a multiplication register includes an arrangement for production of a first output signal derived from a known input with multiplication applied and a second output signal derived from a different input with unit gain applied. Using the known ratios of the two signals, the gain of the multiplication register can be determined. The two signals can be derived from accumulating thermal charge in elements a CCD image device and by summing charge to produce a signal processed with unity gain and by averaging charge for use with the signal with gain applied. An alternative embodiment uses an extra light source for producing input signals of known ratio.

  • Patent number: 7807091
Abstract: A method and plant for the introduction of a liquid into a molten mass under pressure. Such a method and plant are particularly, but not exclusively, suitable for the formation of a coating layer on a cable element having at least one conductor, the layer having an extruded thermoplastic polymer forming a continuous phase incorporating a dielectric liquid, and are useful, for example, in the production of an electric cable for the transportation and/or distribution of electrical power. The method includes the steps of bringing the liquid to a predetermined pressure greater than the pressure of the molten mass; feeding the liquid into a plurality of storage tanks, and injecting the liquid into the molten mass at an injection pressure equal to the above-mentioned predetermined pressure by means of a plurality of injectors in respective fluid communication with the plurality of storage tanks.

  • Patent number: 7807975
Abstract: In order to detect an image generated by an image source, a mirror arrangement is arranged between the image source and a detector. The mirror arrangement includes two spaced-apart deflection mirrors, which are parallel to each other or form an acute angle of less than 90° between them. In particular when the image source is a scintillator layer, shielding of X-rays from the detector with simultaneous compact dimensioning of the apparatus is achieved in this manner.

  • Patent number: 7809006
Abstract: An approach to introducing adaptive routing into a communication approach for passing messages between nodes over links between the nodes includes forming virtual channels over the links of the system and defining a deterministic routing function over the virtual channels such that the deterministic routing function is deadlock free. Adaptive routing is then permitted at nodes using the existing virtual channels by introducing a constraint on the available virtual channels used to forward communication that arrives at a node for a particular destination. The constraint on the virtual channels is such that the adaptive system is also deadlock free.

  • Patent number: 7809453
Abstract: For simulating a wave field synthesis system, an audio scene description defining a temporal sequence of audio objects is provided, an audio object having an audio file for a virtual source or a reference to the audio file and information on a source position of the virtual source. Furthermore, an output condition the wave field synthesis system is to satisfy is given. Furthermore, a simulator for simulating the behavior of the wave field synthesis system for the audio scene description, using the audio data and the source positions as well as information on the wave field synthesis system, is provided. Finally a checker performs a check to determine if the simulated behavior of the wave field synthesis system satisfies the output condition. This achieves more flexible audio scene description creation as well as flexible portability of an audio scene description developed for one system to another wave field synthesis system.

  • Patent number: 7809342
Abstract: A customer relationship management (CRM) method using IBOC-radio signals is provided. A message in the radio signal is parsed to obtain a key. The key is compared to a plurality of stored keys. When the received key matches a stored key, a data structure associated with the message is outputted. A device comprising a lookup table with a plurality of stored keys, a tuner unit that receives a CRM in an IBOC signal, and a controller in electrical communication with the lookup table and tuner is provided. The controller comprises (i) instructions for comparing a key in the CRM to one or more stored keys in the plurality of stored keys and (ii) instructions for permitting the display of a display text associated with the received key when there is a match between the received key and a key in the plurality of stored keys.

Abstract: Electronic devices comprising an anode, buffer layer, hole transport layer, photoactive layer, electron transport layer, electron injection layer, and cathode are provided, where the photoactive layer comprises a dual dopant in a metallic complex. The dopants are selected so that their emitting wavelengths are essentially the same, while their ionization potentials and electron affinities are substantially different. The dual dopant device allows for tuning the ionization potential of one dopant to enhance hole injection and/or minimize hole trapping, while independently tuning the electron affinity of the other dopant to enhance electron injection and/or minimize electron trapping.

  • Publication number: 20100245958
Abstract: A two-element f? lens with short focal distance for a laser scanning unit comprises a first lens and a second lens. The first lens has first and second optical surfaces, the second lens has third and fourth optical surfaces, and all the optical surfaces in a main scanning direction on the optical axis are aspherical surfaces. The fourth optical surface has an inflection point in SAG counted from the optical axis to peripheral portion and its paraxial portion is convex that is disposed on the polygon mirror side. The two-element f? lens satisfies an optical condition of: 0.5429?tan(?)?1.2799, wherein ? is a maximum effective window angle. The first and second lenses of the two-element f? lens with short focal distance of the invention effectively reduces the distance from the polygon mirror to an imaging surface to achieve the purpose for reducing the volume of the laser scanning unit.

  • Publication number: 20100245658
Abstract: A CCD sensor has a shutter to prevent frame shift smear during transfer of an image from the image region to a store region. The CCD sensor has an extended dynamic range, because each integration is in two parts, the second part of which has a different sensitivity than the first part. In order to avoid an asymmetry in the uncovering and covering of the image region, a two-bladed shutter is used.

  • Publication number: 20100245640
Abstract: A CCD such as a frame transfer CCD has an extended dynamic range. The image built up in the image region 1 in each integration period is transferred to the store region 2 in each frame transfer period, for example, at a TV signal rate. The dynamic range is increased by dividing the integration period into two parts, and clipping the signal in the first part, but not in the second. The signal is clipped by pulsing the clock electrodes of the image region so as to combine the charges from adjacent wells together, overspill being drained into the anti-blooming structure, consequently reducing well capacity.
