Abstract: The invention concerns about electrical devices having improved transfer characteristics and a corresponding method of tailoring the transfer characteristics of such electrical devices. Abstract: This disclosure relates to a process for making luminescent titanium dioxide, comprising: precipitating a halide salt and a hydrolyzed compound comprising titanium from a reaction mixture comprising a source of samarium, a titanium starting material selected from the group consisting of titanium tetrachloride, titanium oxychloride, and mixtures thereof, a base selected from the group consisting of ammonium hydroxide, ammonium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide or tetraethyl ammonium hydroxide or mixture thereof, and a solvent selected from the group consisting of ethanol, n-propanol, i-propanol, dimethyl acetamide, alcoholic ammonium halide and aqueous ammonium halide and mixtures thereof to form a precipitate; and removing the halide salt from the precipitate to recover a samarium-doped oxide of titanium.
Abstract: Partially aromatic polyamide compositions containing an aliphatic polyamide and an alkaline earth metal carbonate have excellent adhesion to metal coatings which are produced by electroless and/or electrolytic plating. Also described is a process for the electroless and/or electrolytic coating of these compositions. The resulting articles are useful as parts in automotive and industrial applications.

Abstract: A boatlift for use with small, manual or paddle or oar powered watercraft (such as canoes and kayaks) is provided with a guide rails on either side of the boat lift, which can be utilized by a boater to propel or urge his/her watercraft onto the boatlift. In addition, that boatlift is provided with an entrance/exit assist member which can be used by boaters with impaired leg function to enter and exit from the watercraft. The boatlift can be provided with a bench system which enables disabled persons to more easily enter and exit from small watercraft supported by the boatlift.
Abstract: The invention relates to a flying object which moves with a transonic or supersonic velocity. The inventive flying object comprises a main body, a streaming element and a holding element. The holding element holds the streaming element distant from the main body. The streaming element is permeable for the airstream. For one embodiment the streaming element is built with a porous material. The streaming element has an outer surface with the shape of a cone or a truncated cone. The holding element holds the streaming element in an orientation with the cone opening towards the airstream.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a U-shape optical path image scanning method and a scanning module thereof, in which an image of a document is reflected by a plurality of reflection mirrors to form image beams, and the image beams which enter the scanning module and the image beams which enter the pickup lens form a U-shape optical path. Optical axis of the pickup lens and the scanning module are parallel to the image of the document so as to prevent scattered beams from entering the pickup lens or forming a ghost image. Accordingly, the depth of field not only can be increased by increasing the length of the optical path in a limited space, but the pickup lens and the image sensor also can be easily adjusted in manufacture or assembly to reduce the assembly complexity and improve the mass production rate.

Abstract: A liquid fluoropolymer coating composition and a process for using the composition to make fluoropolymer coated polymeric substrates. The liquid fluoropolymer composition comprises fluoropolymer selected from homopolymers and copolymers of vinyl fluoride and homopolymers and copolymers of vinylidene fluoride polymer, solvent, and compatible adhesive polymer comprising functional groups selected from carboxylic acid, sulfonic acid, aziridine, amine, isocyanate, melamine, epoxy, hydroxy, anhydride and mixtures thereof. In the process, the composition is applied to a polymeric substrate comprising functional groups on its surface that interact with said compatible adhesive polymer to promote bonding of said fluoropolymer coating to said substrate. The solvent is removed from the coating composition applied to the substrate to form a fluoropolymer coating on the substrate.
Abstract: A method for handling a liquid, in particular for the metered transfer of a liquid that is viscous at room temperature from a reservoir to a receiving container for the purpose of further processing the viscous liquid. In the method the receiving container is filled with the liquid. In this arrangement the liquid is present in a plurality of individual portions. Furthermore, the liquid is cooled such that the individual portions are present in a predominantly solid state of aggregation. Preferably, the individual portions are sufficiently small so that the transferred liquid is a frozen granulate.
