Abstract: An assembly for electron beam tomography affords continuous and simultaneous recording of two-dimensional slice images of an object in different irradiation planes with a high temporal and spatial resolution. Targets are penetrated by openings of a given width and with a regular arrangement in the circumferential direction. The openings in the targets are respectively situated on a path formed by the cross section of the shell of the electron beam cone with the respective target. The successive targets in the beam direction respectively are arranged with a small angular offset with respect to the optical axis to the respective target situated in front, and so an electron beam circulating along the shell of the electron beam cone successively irradiates the material webs between the openings of all targets with at least part of its cross section and an X-ray detector arc is arranged for each target in coplanar radial fashion in front of or behind the respective target.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method allowing cost-effective production of doped quartz glass, particularly laser-active quartz glass, that is improved with regard to the homogeneity of the doping material distribution, in that a suspension is provided comprising SiO2 particles and an initial compound for at least one doping material in an aqueous fluid, the fluid being removed under formation of a doped intermediate product comprising particles of the doping material or particles of the precursor substance or the doping material, and the doped quartz glass is formed by sintering the doped intermediate product, wherein at least part of the particles of the doping material or the particles of the precursor substance of the same is generated in the suspension as a precipitate of a pH-value-controlled precipitation reaction of the initial compound.

Abstract: A recombinant DNA construct comprising a polynucleotide encoding an ODP1 polypeptide operably linked to a sucrose synthase 2 promoter where this construct can be used to increase oil content in the seeds of a cruciferous oilseed plant while maintaining normal germination is disclosed. A method for increasing oil content in the seeds of a cruciferous oilseed plant while maintaining normal germination using this construct is also disclosed.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are detectable refrigerant compositions, comprising from about 0.001 to about 5 weight percent tracer compositions, which are useful to identify leaking in a vapor compression refrigeration and/or air conditioning system. The presence of the tracers make the refrigerant compositions detectable by chemo/electro-active array, corona discharge, heated diode, electrochemical, photoionization, infra red, ultrasonic and electron capture detectors.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an ink jet ink comprising a dye, a vehicle, and a surfactant combination comprising: (a) an acetylene alcohol having the generic structure: wherein R and R1 are C1-C10 linear or branched alkyl groups or hydrogen, and wherein only one hydrogen on either R or R1 is replaced by a hydroxy group; and (b) a siloxane surfactant having the generalized structure wherein E is —CH3 or —O—Si(CH3)3, G=—CH2—, or —CH2—CH2—CH2—, x, y, and z are independently about 0 to about 40, and y+z is at least 1; and wherein the acetylene alcohol is present in the amount of at least about 0.3%, and the siloxane surfactant is present in the amount of at least about 0.03 to about 0.5 percent, based on the weight of the ink composition. The inks provide good color on a range of media and can be loaded into used inkjet pens without volume reduction.

Vertical, or frame transfer, smear can also be compensated for by producing an error signal from charge accumulated during frame transfer and corresponding to one or more masked rows of the CCD imager. This error signal can be subtracted from the line signals corresponding to each row of the CCD images receiving radiation during image acquisitions. The CCD imager includes a multiplication register. The dynamic range of the imager may be extended by varying the gain of the multiplication register, for example on a line-by-line or frame-by-frame basis.

Abstract: An advertisement storage and filtering system for selectively identifying targeted advertisements to be stored in the memory of the STB. This storing of the selected advertisements can be accomplished in a number of ways. In one embodiment, the advertisements, in real-time and as they are received at the STB, are processed by the STB and only those advertisements with the appropriate characteristics are stored on the hard drive (HD). This may require some buffering of the advertisements in the STB memory as the STB processes and determines whether or not to store the advertisement. The information required to determine whether or not to store the advertisement could also be sent in advance, e.g., as a data service in an advertisement channel. Alternatively, the STB may store incoming advertisements in a memory temporarily and subsequently determine whether or not to retain the stored advertisements.

Abstract: Processes for saccharification of pretreated biomass to obtain high concentrations of fermentable sugars are provided. Specifically, a process was developed that uses a fed batch approach with particle size reduction to provide a high dry weight of biomass content enzymatic saccharification reaction, which produces a high sugars concentration hydrolysate, using a low cost reactor system.

Abstract: An auxiliary braking device can be used for wellhead applications having a progressive cavity pump. A housing of the device independently mounts on the pump's existing drive using a mounting member, and an adapter on the housing connects to a rotatable drive shaft of the pump. A hydraulic motor on the housing has a motor shaft mechanically coupled to the adapter by a plurality of gears or the like. A control valve couples to the hydraulic motor and operates to control communication of hydraulic fluid through the hydraulic motor, thereby controlling rotation of the rotatable shaft. A controller and electric sensors can operated the control valve in response to the sensed rotation of the shaft. Alternatively, mechanical mechanisms can operate the control valve in response to the rotation of the drive shaft.

Abstract: A moisture vapor permeable metalized composite sheet is formed by coating a moisture vapor permeable sheet with at least one metal layer and at least one outer organic coating layer. The moisture vapor permeability of the composite sheet is at least about 80% of the moisture vapor permeability of the starting sheet. The composite sheet provides a barrier to air and liquid water infiltration while having high moisture vapor permeability and good thermal barrier properties. The composite sheet material is suitable for use as a building construction wrap such as roof lining and house wrap.

Abstract: A method for dynamics simulation involves maintaining quantities according to a floating point binary format quantized to a first precision lower than the precision supported by the floating point format. For example, although an IEEE floating point number can represent numbers with a precision of one part in 2^24, the quantities are quantized to a lower precision, such as one part in 2^22. Operations are applied to sets of the quantities by quantizing the intermediate results of the operations to the lower precision than the precision supported by the floating point format.
