Abstract: A process for producing a fibrous gel composition of poly(paraphenylene terephthalamide) comprising the steps of placing terephthaloyl chloride in reactive contact with paraphenylene diamine in a solution of at least one amide-type polar solvent (e.g. N-methylpyrrolidone), an alkaline earth metal salt and the aliphatic tertiary amine, N-methylpyrrolidine or its hydrochloride. Poly(paraphenylene terephthalamide) papers are prepared by diluting the composition in an amide diluent, blending in a slurry of poly(paraphenylene terephthalamide) fibers in a precipitating mediu, filtering, washing, pressing and drying the mixture.

Abstract: A countertop having a cutout portion, preferably for inserting a kitchen appliance with an overlapping flange, has corners with stress relief radii cut into the wider sides of the countertop to maximize the radii while keeping the cutout hidden under the flange.
Abstract: A method of controlling plant disease using thioxooxazolidinones, oxazolidinediones and related heterocycles, and agriculturally suitable compositions containing them.
Abstract: A composition is disclosed which comprises a fluff of aramid fibers wherein some of the aramid fibers are in the form of balls of the fluff. The composition is particularly useful for insulation, absorption, cushioning, and the like.
Abstract: Fluorocarbonylimino biurets derived from a tris(isocyanotoalkane)biuret, a fluoroaliphatic alcohol and a modifier group imports oil/water repellency, soil-release properties.
Abstract: A demountable pin for rotatably connecting together two elements of small axial dimension, consisting of a bolt with a frusto-conical under-head and an inner hexagonal through bore for tightening it by a key. The pin is locked between two frusto-conical flares of the elements by an end nut with a frusto-conical under-head and a washer with a frusto-conical surface of greater taper than the flares. The under-heads of the nut and the bolt cooperate with the flares.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for assembling electrical connector components, including headers, connectors, and terminals, to circuit bearing substrates functions to align the terminal pins of a connector or header into a preferred position and install an annular solder preform onto each terminal pin. The pin alignment apparatus includes movable jaw plates the define a variable size aperture for encompassing each of a plurality of terminal pins, including terminal pins that are bent or skewed relative to an intended position. A carrier plate overlies the jaw plates and includes a plurality of cavities for receiving solder preforms to be installed over each of the terminal pins. The jaw plates are positioned over the terminal pins and moved to a closed position to align all the terminal pins, including any bent or skewed terminal pins, to an intended alignment.

Abstract: A device for attaching a tool in portable angled grinders, allowing the connection to be released without special accessories. The device consists essentially of a hollow driveshaft, of a spindle that slides inside it, and of a tool-securing point consisting of a mating flange and nut. The nut is loosened by activating the displacing mechanism, which displaces the spindle toward the tool-securing point, lifting the nut, which is connected to the spindle by means of a threaded pin, off of the tool. The nut can then be screwed off by hand.
