Abstract: An ostomy coupling has a pair of coupling rings. The body side ring has a flange attached to a medical grade adhesive pad and a chute wall surrounding a stomal aperture. The bag side ring has a rib member and a seal strip. To provide easy disengagement, the bag side ring has an integral flexible latching arm having a hook portion positioned to engage under a hook flange on the body side ring when the rings are coupled. The hook portion is disengagable from the hook flange by a lifting movement of the latching arm.
Abstract: A hydro-rotary vascular catheter for insertion in a body vessel comprises a tubular outer shell having a fluid-directing head rotatably mounted at its distal end. A plurality of outlet passages are formed about the circumference of the fluid-directing head, including a row of primary outlet passages formed near the base of the fluid-directing head and a row of secondary outlet passages formed forwardly of the primary outlet passages. The primary outlet passages are inclined radially and tangentially with respect to the shell to impart a tangential component of velocity to fluid exiting through the primary openings, while the secondary outlet openings are inclined axially in order to eject fluid in a primarily forward direction. A protective shield surrounds the primary openings to prevent the radially ejected fluid from rupturing the walls of the vessel, and to increase the turbulence of the exiting fluid.
Abstract: A laminar article with good barrier properties to oxygenated and hydrocarbon compounds is prepared by blending a polyolefin with about 2 to 39% of a melt blend of a nylon and a polyvinyl alcohol component, using an alkylcarboxyl-substituted polyolefin as a compatibilizer.
Abstract: Manufacture of 5-cyanovaleric acid by carbonylation of pentenenitriles from a mixture consisting essentially of pentenenitrile, CO and at least one compound of the formula ROH, where R is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and a cyclic urea and/or a cyclic amide, where the combined weight of the cosolvents is between about 70% and 99% of the total weight of the reaction mixture.
Abstract: An electrostatic liquid developer consisting essentially of (A) a nonpolar liquid having a Kauributanol value of less than 30, present in major amount; (B) thermoplastic resin particles less than 30 .mu.m average particle size; (C) a chromium, molybdenum or tungsten compound having an oxidation state of at least +3 wherein the anionic component is as defined above, and (D) a nonpolar liquid soluble ionic or zwitterionic charge director compound. The process of preparation of the electrostatic liquid developer is also described. The liquid developers are useful in copying, color proofing including digital color proofing, lithographic printing plates, and resists.
Abstract: A method of playing a board game, where the game comprises a play surface and multi-segmented playing pieces representing characters adapted to stand upright on the surface. Each character is comprised of a stack of segments. By progressively removing segments from the bottom of the stack upwardly, the character appears to be sinding deeper and deeper below the surface, as for example, quicksand or a body of water. As segments are added back to the bottom of the stack in the reverse order, the character appears to emerge upwardly again. Portions of adjacent segments interconnect to maintain the segments in the desired stacked condition and relative orientation to one another.
Abstract: Process of synthetizing ethylene-tetracarboxylic esters by duplication of lonic compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X=COOR, Y=COOR' and R and R' represent an organic group, characterized in that the duplication is an oxidative duplication conducted in the presence of a catalyst consisting of the salt of a transition metal.

Abstract: There is disclosed an apparatus for forming a shrink-wrapped package from polyolefin film which overcomes the problems of forming the bottom lap seal of the tubular package formed from the film and initial low strength of the heat seal at the forward end of the package, by positioning the static sealer for the bottom lap seal upstream from the heat sealer for the forward end of the package and by using a ram to move packages into the tubular package but to stop them short of the heat seal at the forward end of the package.
Abstract: AB dispersants made by group transfer polymerization aid in controlling color shift during casting of MMA polymer sheet containing color pigments and additives, particularly chain transfer agent and sheet release agent.

Abstract: This invention pertains to novel heterocyclic 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran and chromane compounds, including stereoisomers, agriculturally suitable compositions containing them, and their use as broad spectrum herbicides.
Abstract: This invention relates to certain novel pyridine sulfonamide compounds, to compositions containing such compounds, and to a method of use of such compositions to control the growth of undesired vegetation.
Abstract: A gelatino, silver halide, wash-out element containing a dispersion of a plasticized hydrophobic thermoplastic polymer dispersed as droplets in water, is described. This element can be used to prepare wash-out images of superior quality and integrity. Carbon black also may be present to enhance and darken the resulting images prepared therefrom.
Abstract: Articles made from amorphous dipolymers of perfluoro-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxole with tetrafluoroethylene having high glass transition temperatures of 140.degree. C. or higher, low indices of refraction, and good physical properties, and low dielectric constants, include, among others, substrates for circuit boards, composites, sheets and films, optical lenses, and electronic current carrying devices.
Abstract: The invention relates to benzylketone phospholipase A.sub.2 inhibitors, pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and methods of treating phospholipase A.sub.2 -mediated conditions in mammals by administration of a therapeutically effective amount of such a benzylketone phospholipase A.sub.2 inhibitor. These compounds are also intermediates in the synthesis of other PLA.sub.2 inhibitors.
Abstract: Peroxide-curable fluoroelastomers and chlorofluoroelastomers are prepared in the presence of iodinated compounds, with iodine bonding to a substantial number of terminal positions on the fluoroelastomer, and comprising up to 3 weight percent of bromine-containing units selected from fluoroolefins and perfluoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ethers, and complementally at least 97 weight percent of either units of vinylidene fluoride, one or more fluoroolefins, and optionally perfluoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ethers, or units of tetrafluoroethylene, perfluoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ether, and ethylene. The resulting fluoroelastomers have improved processability, excellent strength and compression set properties, and are useful in the preparation of injection molded shaft seals, gaskets and other molded parts. The fluoroelastomer is prepared by a continuous emulsion polymerization process.
