Abstract: A method for measuring the inherent viscosity of individual solute components in a multicomponent sample in solution with a solvent comprising for each component (1) measuring pressure differences for solvent and for solvent with solute component, as a function of time across two capillary tubes in fluid communication (2) measuring concentrations of component as a function of time, and (3) obtaining inherent viscosity by means of a described mathematical relationship.
Abstract: A synthetic plastic bag for containing liquids, e.g., urine, has a plastic outlet tube. It is manufactured by a first step of seam welding the tube between two superposed bag walls. In a subsequent step, an encircling sleeve is slid over the tube to a position where it contains within it the portions of the bag walls on either side of the tube. Thirdly, this sleeve is compressed onto the tube by a crimping operation conducted with the crimping force applied in a direction substantially parallel to the plane in which the bag walls lie. The tube may be part of a tap or other outlet fitting such as a push-pull tap.
Abstract: The invention relates to certain herbicidal sulfonamides, agriculturally suitable compositions thereof and a method for their use as a general or selective preemergent or postemergent herbicide or as a plant growth regulant.
Abstract: Laminates of polyvinyl fluoride and at least one other fluoropolymer that are free from adhesive at the interface and a process for preparing the laminates by dispersion coating a first film to form a second film and curing the second film at a temperature below the melting point of the first film.

Abstract: As dispenser for fluid products such as perfumes, soaps, deodorizers, insecticides, varnishes, enamels, etc., comprises a chamber (2), containing a fluid to be dispensed and provided with a dispensing valve (10); a seal sliding piston (4) in the chamber (2), and a propellant medium (17) acting on the piston (4) and positioned in a conduit (3) or a chamber coaxial with the chamber (2). The propellant medium may be a spiral spring or compressed air, the pre-charging of which is proportional to the quantity of fluid to be dispensed. When the propellant medium is compressed air, it is contained in a coaxial chamber, annular and external to that of fluid to be dispensed; the external chamber is connected to the bottom of piston (4) by means of radial holes made on the surface of the inner chamber.

Abstract: Crosslinked copolymers of monomeric aminosaccharides such as aminoglycosidic antibiotics, e.g. neomycin, or of polymeric aminosaccharides, e.g., chitosan, with dialdehydes are useful antihypercholesterolemic agents due to their ability to bind with bile acids. These copolymers are insoluble in acidic solutions but are swellable to at least about 2.times. their original weight.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a hydrogen peroxide solution stabilized by a substituted oxybenzene compound which is soluble in hydrogen peroxide. In a second aspect of the invention, a stabilized hydrogen peroxide solution contains a mineral acid which is suitable for etching a metal surface of a metal substrate such as a printed wiring board.

Abstract: A unique data recovery circuit which is able to recover transmitted digital data with a data clock embedded therein. No initial timing signals are required for operation of the data recovery circuit. Instead the data clock is recovered from the received data and used to synchronize the flow of data through the circuit. Noise pulses and other anomalous transients are rejected by the circuit so that the data output accurately corresponds to the data transmitted. Operation of the invention is achieved through a number of expedients which include a random access memory delay line which delays interpretation of the data until the data clock has been recovered. A uniquely integrated delay switching network is utilized to switch recovery of the clock from the received data to the delayed data. A phase locked loop and an integrate, sample and dump circuit are also employed, both of which use asynchronous ripple counters to achieve the primary objective of the invention which is to recover the data transmitted.

Abstract: An improvement in a system for transferring parts between work stations wherein the system has part grippers movable along three orthogonal axes, the first being the opening and closing movements of the grippers, the second being the transfer movement of the grippers between stations and the third being the lifting and lowering movements of the grippers at a station. The improvement resides in the mechanism which effects movements along the first and third axes. This mechanism includes two linearly movable bushings connected with a lost motion and separated by a compression spring with the first bushing being movable by the action of a cam. In their closing movement, the grippers are moved by the bushings until the second bushing is stopped by an abutment.
Abstract: An improved three stage process for preparing agglomerates of spheroidal masses of malachite crystals in which the formation of pH gradients during addition of ingredients to the third stage is avoided.
Abstract: A discrete fourier transform direction finding apparatus for performing a direction finding function on signals received through two antennae separated by a known distance. The outputs of the respective antennae are connected to first and second receiver channels which convert the received signals down to baseband and provide orthogonal I and Q channel outputs. A common local oscillator is used to maintain phase coherency between the channels and AGC signals are provided to maintain identical delays in the receiver RF paths. The processed signals from each receiver channel are than fed into a respective charge coupled device Chirp-Z transform (discrete fourier transform) circuit to produce real and imaginary components of the received signals. These signals are then converted to digital form and are used by subsequent circuitry to determine the angle of arrival of the received signal.
Abstract: A process involving scanning an original linewise and determining the tonal value of each scan dot. Multiple scan dots are collected into a scan field. The average tonal value of each scan field is determined by averaging the tonal values of the scan dots of that scan field. The original is reproduced on a recording medium by individual recording dots that can take the tone value "print" or "no-print". Several recording dots correspond to a scan field of the original. The tone value of the scan field can be reproduced almost exactly on the average by printing a specific number of recording dots. The distribution of recording dots to be printed for a scan field is determined by subdivision of the scan field into the smallest subfields.
