  • Patent number: 4869025
Abstract: A grinding machine, in particular for grinding scissors parts or knife blades, has a grinding wheel that can be driven to rotate, a workpiece socket, and a guide device for guiding the workpiece socket during the grinding operation. In order to enable fully automatic grinding of all the surfaces on a workpiece that are to be ground, in particular on scissors parts, knife blades or the like, using only a single grinding machine, the workpiece socket is disposed on a compound slide that is displaceable in an X-Y plane and is embodied as rotatable about a pivot axis (Z axis). The workpiece socket has at least one clamping device, which is disposed on the workpiece socket in such a manner that the primary longitudinal direction of a workpiece fastened in place extends substantially parallel to the pivot axis (Z axis).

  • Patent number: 4869720
Abstract: A hypodermic syringe assembly includes an elongated container and a cup shape molded piston longitudinal movable in the container. The container has a sidewall, a needle receiving end, and a piston receiving end which terminates in a rim. The piston has an open rear end with at least three equally spaced integral hinged tabs therearound. The piston has a first position partially inserted at the container rear where the tabs extend radially outward from the container adjacent its rear end. The piston in this position can receive a disc shaped plunger head. The piston has a second position fully inserted in the container where the tabs are rotated about their hinges and extend radially inward within the container. In this position the piston tabs hold a disc shaped plunger head within the piston. The piston has a third position partially extended out of the rim of the dispensing container.

  • Patent number: 4869326
Abstract: A box blade attachment for tractors and like vehicles comprises a box frame which supports, for pivotal movement, a pair of moldboards, horizontally spaced from each other for scraping a surface in either a forward or backward path. Each of the moldboards moves independently of the other between a first position depending vertically between the sidewalls of the frame, and a second position pivoted inwardly and upwardly to lie in a plane substantially parallel to the surface being scraped. Hydraulic moldboard controls in the preferred embodiment synchronize the movement such that the moldboards move, alternatively and relative to each other, between the first and second positions. Thus arranged the box blade can be used in a conventional manner when the vehicle is moving in either direction by raising the appropriate moldboard and lowering the other.

  • Patent number: 4869996
Abstract: An improved process for preparing negative images from a photohardenable tonable element, wherein the unexposed photohardenable tonable element is tacky in a preselected temperature range, T.sub.1 -T.sub.2, in which temperature range the exposed photosensitive tonable element is nontacky but wherein the exposed element is retackifiable at elevated temperatures above T.sub.2. After imagewise exposure the unexposed areas have a colorless toning material applied to them at a temperature within the range T.sub.1 -T.sub.2 to make them nontacky at temperatures of at least up to T.sub.3, which is greater than T.sub.2. After heating to an elevated temperature above T.sub.2 but less than T.sub.3 the exposed areas have a contrasting toning material applied to them to give a negative or reverse image.

  • Patent number: 4870374
Abstract: A system is described for using the modulation of the phase of a RF carrier as means of transmitting information. The RF input is split into four quadrature components each of which is passed through individual amplitude control attenuators and then summed in a combiner to create the required phase-controlled RF signal. The resultant signal is then amplified in an RF signal amplifier chain as required to achieve the desired output level. The RF output level is sampled and routed back to an in-phase splitter the output of which is compared to the corresponding individual quadrature components of the unmodulated RF signal to generate a signal which is compared with a processor generated modulation reference signal in a control loop amplifier and the resulting error signal is applied to the individual attenuators to adjust the output amplitude of each quadrature component. The quadrature components are then combined to obtain the desired phase-modulated RF output signal.

  • Patent number: 4867691
Abstract: A contact for a connector is characterized by a barrel portion having a layer of a reflowable solderable material disposed on the inner and outer surfaces thereof. The barrel is expansible from a first to a second dimension upon the insertion of a camming member thereinto. The contact is disposed in a connector that is used in conjunction with a pin header and a board with plated through holes therein. The barrels, when inserted into the through holes from one surface of the board, are expanded by the receipt of pins or wires inserted into the barrels from a header disposed on the other side of the board. The connections between the barrels and the through holes may be mass terminated. The board assembly so formed is able to be conveniently stacked.
