Abstract: CrtW carotenoid ketolases are provided that are useful for the production of astaxanthin and other cyclic ketocarotenoids. The mutant ketolase genes of the present invention encode polypeptides characterized by an improvement in astaxanthin synthesis activity when converting cyclic hydroxylated carotenoid intermediates into astaxanthin. Expression of the mutant carotenoid ketolases in heterologous hosts enabled increased production of astaxanthin relative to the Sphingomonas melonis DC18 CrtW.

Abstract: The method for estimating parameters of a navigation signal received by a receiver which receives navigation signals through a plurality of paths wherein the parameters include data modulated on the navigation signal and complex amplitudes i.e. amplitude and phase shift, and time delays of the individual paths, comprises receiving a navigation signal and sampling the received navigation signal. Moreover, the parameters are sequentially estimated in terms of a posterior probability density function. For facilitating the sequential estimation, the received vector is transformed into a compressed vector without loss of information by using a correlator bank having a plurality of correlator reference signals.

Abstract: The invention relates to a self-lubricating guiding element which is characterised in that the body (1) thereof is made from a material with high resistance to wear and/or seizing and corrosion. According to the invention, each of the ends of the bore (1a) is equipped with at least one groove (1b) and (1c) which is intended to prevent the lubricant from leaving the friction zone. In addition, the bore (1a) comprises oriented slots (1d), at least between the grooves (1b) and (1c), which open into at least one of said grooves and which are used to store lubricant.

Abstract: A system and method for locking a tool box is provided. The system utilizes a remote device transmitter and receiver that may be used in conjunction with each other to facilitate locking of a tool box. The system and method also utilizes a hand held remote control unit which incorporates the transmitter whereby when a user desires to lock and/or unlock the tool box, the user simply depresses a button on the remote and the receiver within the tool box causes for locking of the box. Additionally, the system and method may be utilized for a plurality of differing tool boxes allowing for a number of boxes to be locked with a single signal being sent to each box.
Abstract: The invention is a method for producing a tool which can be used to create optically active surface structures in the sub-?m range, having a support surface onto which relief surface structures are applied over the support surface by means of material deposition. The invention is distinguished by the support surface being directly contacted with a mask in which openings with diameters in the sub-?m range are provided or can be provided, by the support surface including the mask being subjected to a coating process in which the coating material deposits through the openings of the mask onto the support surface, and the mask is removed from the support surface when a partial amount of an average end structure height of the surface structures is reached and the coating procedure is then continued without the mask using the same coating material or different coating materials.

Abstract: An inventive loudspeaker includes a diaphragm, a first excitation means for generating structure-borne sound in the diaphragm, and a second excitation means, different from the first one, for setting the diaphragm into a longitudinal vibrational motion in a direction perpendicular to the extension of the diaphragm. In accordance with the invention, the problem of insufficient bass reproduction and/or of the magnitude conflicting with invisible integration or installation is solved in that a second exciter system is introduced, which uniformly moves the diaphragm, or the plate serving as the diaphragm, forward and backward in addition to the bending waves of the structure-borne sound. The sound reproduction therefore is possible across the entire audio-frequency range without impeding the goal of invisible integration or installation.
