Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a capillary fluidic device comprising at least two inlets, a microfluidic channel and an outlet. The device allows for the autonomous and programmable sequential flow of the same or different fluids using capillary fluidics for autonomous pumping of liquids to other downstream fluidic structures. External pumping and valving systems are not required, thus reducing complexity and increasing portability of stand-alone microfluidic systems. Aspects of the present disclosure can be applied to other fluidic structures for performing analytical biological assays. The integration has at least one reaction chamber and at least one capillary pump. The device is integrated with at least one sensor for detection and quantification of the biological assay signals.

Abstract: A shortbread type cookie produced by a process comprising the steps of: mixing the ingredients of a cookie dough, forming the cookie dough to form semi-finished products, baking the semi-finished products formed from the dough, thus obtaining the cookies, cooling the cookies obtained and packaging of the cookies; wherein the step of baking the semi-finished products comprises a step of exposure thereof to a hot gas consisting of hot air and superheated steam, blown directly on the semi-finished products by means of an impingement system. Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of mixtures of monoesters and diesters as coalescing agents. Monoesters and diesters according to the present invention were obtained by ethoxylation of fatty acids, and/or by direct esterification of fatty acids with monoethylene glycol or polyethylene glycol. Fatty acids used in the present invention have 4 to 22 carbon atoms and can be saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched. In particular, the invention is directed to a composition of coalescing agents comprising: (i) mixtures of (RCOO(EO)nH) monoesters and diesters; and, (ii) mixtures of (RCOO(EO)nH) monoesters and diesters obtained from the ethoxylation of fatty acids, and/or direct esterification of fatty acids with ethylene glycol derivatives, and/or transesterification, wherein the monoesters are present in an amount of 90 to 10 mass % and diesters are present in an amount of 10 to 90 mass %.

Abstract: There is disclosed a motor mount apparatus for coupling a pump body of a fluid pump assembly to a rotational power source (e.g. motor). The apparatus provides a plurality of seals and retaining seal members within a motor mount assembly to cooperate to seal the interior of the apparatus and prevent contaminants such as grit to enter into the interior of the motor mount assembly and subsequently into either the pump body or the power source. The retaining seal member comprises a seal and is fittedly engaged within the motor mount assembly surrounding a shaft coupler. Disposed between the shaft coupler and the shaft is a second seal for cooperating with the seal of the retaining seal member to block external contaminants from entering past the retaining seal member into the housing while containing lubricants on the interior facing side of the retaining seal member.

Abstract: A fermentation process for the production of ethanol from natural sources, such as corn, comprising introducing a fermentable sugar, an inoculant, and a stabilized chlorine dioxide into a fermentation system is disclosed. The stabilized chlorine dioxide is added preventatively to the fermentation system, at concentrations in the fermentation system of acetic acid no greater than 0.30% (weight/volume) and lactic acid no greater than 0.60% (weight/volume). The stabilized chlorine dioxide is added in an amount effective to substantially prevent growth of bacteria.

The second sensor arrangement generates sensor information by detecting a space orientation of the machine body, the discharge spout or both. The electronic spout control generates its drive commands for guiding the crop stream based on the sensor information.
