  • Patent number: 7900870
Abstract: An aircraft vent door system includes a vent door for a vent on an aircraft door. A cam, having a groove, is disposed on the vent door. The system also includes a movement assembly, which includes a roller disposed within the groove, and a lever coupled to the movement assembly. A portion of the lever extends beyond and proximate to the perimeter of the vent door. A second lever may also be attached to the aircraft door. The first lever pivots in response to the movement of the movement assembly, and urges the second lever to pivot. The second lever, in turn, urges the vent door open, thereby overcoming the sticking effect of, for example, built up ice or other obstructions.

  • Patent number: 7901928
Abstract: Two acyltransferases are provided, suitable for use in the manufacture of microbial oils enriched in omega fatty acids in oleaginous yeast (e.g., Yarrowia lipolytica). Specifically, the genes encoding phophatidylcholine-diacylglycerol acyltransferase (PDAT) and diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT2) have been isolated from Y. lipolytica. These genes encode enzymes that participate in the terminal step in oil biosynthesis in yeast. Each is expected to play a key role in altering the quantity of polyunsaturated fatty acids produced in oils of oleaginous yeasts.

  • Patent number: 7901761
Abstract: The invention is a hermetic via in a ceramic substrate that is comprised of noble metal powder in a glass-free paste that contains an admixture of a particulate phase of niobium pentoxide. The electrically conductive platinum provides excellent electrical conductivity while the niobium pentoxide phase prevents shrinkage of the paste during thermal processing and binds to both the ceramic and the noble metal particulates in the via, thus maintaining a hermetic seal around the via.

  • Publication number: 20110053546
Abstract: A system and method for improving the processing of communications signals received in the presence of narrowband interference signals. The received communications signals are time sampled and transformed into a series of spectral terms in the frequency domain that are then evaluated to identify narrowband interference signals. The identified narrowband interference terms can be calculated to a value that will optimize the corrupted spectral terms resulting from the communication, and an inverse transformation can be used to generate a time domain signal that is free from interference.

  • Publication number: 20110048328
Abstract: A vapor deposition apparatus includes an insert within which a material is deposited on the surface of a film. A cassette includes end plates each having a rib that edgewise receive a spiral wrapping of a film at least 300 mm wide. Spaces between turns of the wrapping define a gas flow channel and spaces between adjacent turns of one rib define inlet openings that communicate with the channel. Each rib has a predetermined width dimension, a predetermined average thickness dimension, and a width-to-thickness aspect ratio of at least 2:1. The spacing between end plates is at least 300 mm and is also greater than the film width at deposition temperature. The width dimension of each rib is between about 0.5% to about 2.0% of the end plate spacing. A diverging flow director contacts one end plate to directing gaseous fluid toward the inlet openings in that end plate.

  • Publication number: 20110050331
Abstract: A high voltage current source and a voltage expander implemented in a low voltage semiconductor process. The voltage expander extends the operating voltage range of a stack of transistors to multiple times a supply voltage Vdd at the output node of the stack without exceeding the breakdown voltage of any of the transistors in the stack. The voltage expander uses a diode and a voltage divider to detect the output node voltage changes and generates a plurality of voltages that control the gate voltages for the stack of transistors. A high voltage wide swing current source utilizes a transistor to set the output current and the voltage expander to extend the output voltage range of the current setting transistor. An additional transistor and another current source ensure that the output current is constant throughout the entire output voltage range between about 0 V and multiple times the supply voltage Vdd.
