Abstract: The present invention provides an etchant composition comprising A) high strength potassium monopersulfate providing from about 0.025% to about 0.8% by weight of active oxygen; B) from about 0.01% to about 30% by weight of the composition of B1) an organic acid, alkali metal salt of an organic acid, ammonium salt of an organic acid, or a homopolymer of an organic acid, or B2) a halogen or nitrate salt of phosphonium, tetrazolium, or benzolium, or B3) a mixture of component B1) and B2); and C) from about 0% to about 97.49% by weight of the composition of water; and a method of etching a substrate using said composition.

Abstract: An approach to introducing adaptive routing into a communication approach for passing messages between nodes over links between the nodes includes forming virtual channels over the links of the system and defining a deterministic routing function over the virtual channels such that the deterministic routing function is deadlock free. Adaptive routing is then permitted at nodes using the existing virtual channels by introducing a constraint on the available virtual channels used to forward communication that arrives at a node for a particular destination. The constraint on the virtual channels is such that the adaptive system is also deadlock free.
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel catalyst compositions and their use in a process for the catalytic conversion of ethanol to a reaction product comprising 1-butanol. Abstract: A method and plant for the introduction of a liquid into a molten mass under pressure. Such a method and plant are particularly, but not exclusively, suitable for the formation of a coating layer on a cable element having at least one conductor, the layer having an extruded thermoplastic polymer forming a continuous phase incorporating a dielectric liquid, and are useful, for example, in the production of an electric cable for the transportation and/or distribution of electrical power. Abstract: An advertisement storage and filtering system for selectively identifying targeted advertisements to be stored in the memory of the STB. This storing of the selected advertisements can be accomplished in a number of ways. In one embodiment, the advertisements, in real-time and as they are received at the STB, are processed by the STB and only those advertisements with the appropriate characteristics are stored on the hard drive (HD). This may require some buffering of the advertisements in the STB memory as the STB processes and determines whether or not to store the advertisement. The information required to determine whether or not to store the advertisement could also be sent in advance, e.g., as a data service in an advertisement channel. Alternatively, the STB may store incoming advertisements in a memory temporarily and subsequently determine whether or not to retain the stored advertisements.

Abstract: A method for dynamics simulation involves maintaining quantities according to a floating point binary format quantized to a first precision lower than the precision supported by the floating point format. For example, although an IEEE floating point number can represent numbers with a precision of one part in 2^24, the quantities are quantized to a lower precision, such as one part in 2^22. Operations are applied to sets of the quantities by quantizing the intermediate results of the operations to the lower precision than the precision supported by the floating point format.
Abstract: A customer relationship management (CRM) method using IBOC-radio signals is provided. A message in the radio signal is parsed to obtain a key. The key is compared to a plurality of stored keys. When the received key matches a stored key, a data structure associated with the message is outputted. A device comprising a lookup table with a plurality of stored keys, a tuner unit that receives a CRM in an IBOC signal, and a controller in electrical communication with the lookup table and tuner is provided. The controller comprises (i) instructions for comparing a key in the CRM to one or more stored keys in the plurality of stored keys and (ii) instructions for permitting the display of a display text associated with the received key when there is a match between the received key and a key in the plurality of stored keys.
Abstract: An auxiliary braking device can be used for wellhead applications having a progressive cavity pump. A housing of the device independently mounts on the pump's existing drive using a mounting member, and an adapter on the housing connects to a rotatable drive shaft of the pump. A hydraulic motor on the housing has a motor shaft mechanically coupled to the adapter by a plurality of gears or the like. A control valve couples to the hydraulic motor and operates to control communication of hydraulic fluid through the hydraulic motor, thereby controlling rotation of the rotatable shaft. A controller and electric sensors can operated the control valve in response to the sensed rotation of the shaft. Alternatively, mechanical mechanisms can operate the control valve in response to the rotation of the drive shaft.

Abstract: A two-element f? lens with short focal distance for a laser scanning unit comprises a first lens and a second lens. The first and second lenses of the two-element f? lens with short focal distance of the invention effectively reduces the distance from the polygon mirror to an imaging surface to achieve the purpose for reducing the volume of the laser scanning unit.

Abstract: A method for handling a liquid, in particular for the metered transfer of a liquid that is viscous at room temperature from a reservoir to a receiving container for the purpose of further processing the viscous liquid. In the method the receiving container is filled with the liquid. In this arrangement the liquid is present in a plurality of individual portions. Furthermore, the liquid is cooled such that the individual portions are present in a predominantly solid state of aggregation. Preferably, the individual portions are sufficiently small so that the transferred liquid is a frozen granulate.
