Abstract: Peptide tags, referred to here as inclusion body tags, are disclosed and are useful for the generation of insoluble fusion peptides. The fusion peptides comprise at least one inclusion body tag operably linked to a peptide of interest. Expression of the fusion peptide in a host cell results in a product that is insoluble and contained within inclusion bodies in the cell and/or cell lysate. The inclusion bodies may then be purified and the protein of interest may be isolated after cleavage from the inclusion body tag.

Abstract: An intermediate preform is formed in a process of manufacturing an optical fibre by forming a sol containing a glass precursor; pouring the sol in a mold containing a set of elongate elements; aging the sol to obtain a gel body; removing the set of elongate elements from the gel body to create a corresponding set of holes in the gel body; and removing the gel body from the mold. The method further provides imparting a motion of the set of elongate elements during aging of the sol to avoid adhesion of the gel to the elongate elements, the motion being preferably a rotation about the respective axes or an alternate translation along the respective axes. An apparatus with means for carrying out the method is also described.
Abstract: An electronic device can include a first radiation region, a second radiation region spaced apart from the first radiation region, and an insulating region. The insulating region can have a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The first radiation region can lie immediately adjacent to the first side, and the second radiation region can lie immediately adjacent to the second side. Within the insulating region, no other radiation region may lie between the first and second radiation regions, and the insulating region can include an insulating layer that includes a plurality of openings. In another aspect, a process for forming the electronic device can include patterning an insulating layer.

Abstract: A system and method for determining eligibility for reimbursement for medical claims for patients may be implemented with computer software which compares a service provider's patient information against a benefit provider's database of covered persons to determine if the patient is eligible for benefits. The service provider records may be compressed by grouping all of the medical claims relating to a particular patient into one cluster represented by a composite medical claim, which may be used to query the benefit provider databases to determine if the patient is recognized. If the patient is recognized, every record within the cluster may be checked against the benefit provider's database to determine whether one or more patient medical claims are eligible for reimbursement.

Abstract: The electromechanical regulator for passenger oxygen is a hybrid oxygen regulator that provides for electronic or mechanical regulation of oxygen flow. The electronic portion of the regulator consists of an inlet solenoid valve, an outlet solenoid valve, a cabin pressure transducer, a regulated output transducer and a PID based controller, and the solenoid valves are normally biased so that in the event of an electronic system failure or a power supply failure the system will automatically revert to mechanical operation.

Abstract: A process of twinning a pair of polymer-insulated conductors to form a twisted pair, where the polymer-insulated conductors are formed by extruding a uniformly thick coating of polymer onto the conductors. More than one twisted pair is encased in a polymer jacket forming a cable. The twisted pair obtains a desirable average impedance performance using a reduced amount by weight of polymer forming said polymer-insulated conductors by: (i) extruding to form longitudinally running peaks and valleys in the exterior surface of each of the polymer-insulated conductors of the pair of polymer-insulated conductors and (ii) twinning resultant polymer-insulated conductors to nest at least one of the peaks in the exterior surface of one of the polymer-insulated conductors in at least one of said valleys in the exterior surface of the other of the polymer-insulated conductors of the pair of polymer-insulated conductors.

Abstract: The description is of a flat substrate with an electrically conductive structure integrated inside the flat substrate or applied to a surface of the flat substrate and/or with a technically improved surface. The invention is characterised in that at least one sensor is integrated inside the flat substrate or applied to a surface of the flat substrate, which generates sensor signals according to deformations occurring inside the flat substrate, at least one actuator is integrated inside the flat substrate or applied to the surface of the flat substrate, which enables the flat substrate to mechanically deform when activated, and a signal unit connected to the at least one sensor and to the at least one actuator is provided, which, on the basis of the sensor signals, generates actuator signals for activating the actuator, so that deformations occurring inside the flat substrate are reduced.

Abstract: Provided herein are light weight glass laminates having ionomeric interlayers and at least one glass layer. In particular, the weight of the glass laminates is reduced by reducing the thickness of the at least one glass layer to about 2.0 mm or less, or to about 1.5 mm or less. The light weight laminates retain favorable performance properties such as have good Pummel adhesion levels, good moisture resistance, and low stress. Further provided are lightweight glass laminates equipped with integral mounting devices.

Abstract: A shelving assembly has an integral product display and provides an adjustable track for the product display to roll along. The track may be adjusted both horizontally and vertically to allow the user to tailor the track to fit different shelving sizes and configurations. A carriage within the track rolls on wheels which are oriented in both the vertical and horizontal plane. A slider framework extends downwardly from the carriage and provides a display box for the customer to view an unboxed and preferably assembled sample of a product for sale. The slider framework is removably secured to the carriage, or in the alternative, the display box is removably secured to the slider framework, so the user may easily remove and replace display samples.
