Abstract: A system and method for locking a tool box is provided. The system utilizes a remote device transmitter and receiver that may be used in conjunction with each other to facilitate locking of a tool box. The system and method also utilizes a hand held remote control unit which incorporates the transmitter whereby when a user desires to lock and/or unlock the tool box, the user simply depresses a button on the remote and the receiver within the tool box causes for locking of the box. Additionally, the system and method may be utilized for a plurality of differing tool boxes allowing for a number of boxes to be locked with a single signal being sent to each box.
Abstract: Disrupting the expression of endogenous Escherichia host cell genes gcvA and spr provides mutant host cells having increased heterologous peptide production. The addition of a genetic modification to the coding region of gene yejM further enhances peptide production and facilitates easier downstream processing. Recombinant Escherichia host cells are provided as well as methods of using such host cells for heterologous peptide production.

Abstract: A process for producing a color electro-optic display uses an electro-optic sub-assembly comprising an electro-optic layer and a light-transmissive electrically-conductive layer. This sub-assembly is laminated to a backplane comprising a plurality of electrodes with the electro-optic layer disposed between the backplane and the electrically-conductive layer. A flowable material is placed over the sub-assembly and a color filter array is placed over the electrically-conductive layer and aligned with the electrodes of the backplane to form the color electro-optic display.

Abstract: Dispersed, crystalline, stable to oxidation copper particles are prepared in the absence of polymeric dispersants by rapidly reducing a Cu(I) salt with an Fe(II) carboxylic acid complex in water. The resulting microns sized copper powders contain only organics which decompose at temperatures low enough not to interfere with sintering processes and the formation of conductive copper structures.

Abstract: A method for producing a cable including at least one transmissive element, for example, an element transmitting electrical energy or optionally optical signals as well, and an expanded and cross-linked coating layer in a radially outer position with respect to the at least one transmissive element, the coating layer having a composition including an expandable and cross-linkable polymeric material. The method includes a) extruding the composition; b) forming a coating layer made of expandable and cross-linkable polymeric material with the composition thus extruded; c) expanding the coating layer made of expandable and cross-linkable polymeric material; and d) cross-linking the coating layer made of expandable and cross-linkable polymeric material. The expanding and cross-linking steps c) and d) are carried out by heating the coating layer made of expandable and cross-linkable polymeric material at atmospheric pressure by means of a suitable heating fluid.

Abstract: The invention is directed to polyimide based adhesives having a coefficient of thermal expansion (“CTE”) equal to or below 50 ppm/° C. The adhesives of the present invention contain a polyimide base polymer present in the overall adhesive in an amount from 25 to 95 weight percent. The polyimide base polymer has a glass transition temperature (“Tg”) in a range of from about 150 to about 300° C. and typically has a coefficient of thermal expansion above 50 ppm/° C. The polyimide based adhesives of the invention also contain an aramid micro fiber filler in an amount from 5 to 75 weight percent, based upon the total weight of the polyimide based adhesive. The fiber filler can be used to lower CTE of the overall adhesive to match (or nearly match) the CTE of other materials like metal, silicon wafers, other polymers (including polyimide) and the like.

Abstract: A two-element f-? lens used for a micro-electro mechanical system (MEMS) laser scanning unit includes a first lens and a second lens, the first lens is a meniscus lens of which the concave surface is disposed on a side of a MEMS mirror, the second lens is a biconcave lens, at least one optical surface is an Aspherical surface in both main scanning direction and sub scanning direction, and satisfies special optical conditions. The two-element f-? lens corrects the nonlinear relationship between scanned angle and the time into the linear relationship between the image spot distances and the time. Meanwhile, the two-element f-? lens focuses the scan light to the target in the main scanning and sun scanning directions, such that the purpose of the scanning linearity effect and the high resolution scanning can be achieved.

Abstract: Peptides have been identified that bind with high affinity to hair, skin, and nails. Peptide-based hair conditioners, hair colorants, skin conditioners, skin colorants, and nail colorants are described. The peptide-based hair conditioners and hair colorants consist of a hair-binding peptide coupled to a hair conditioning agent or a coloring agent, respectively. The peptide-based skin conditioners and skin colorants consist of a skin-binding peptide coupled to a skin conditioning agent or a colorant, respectively. The peptide-based nail colorants consist of a nail-binding peptide coupled to a coloring agent. In all these compositions, the peptide may be directly coupled to the active agent or the coupling may be via a spacer. Personal care compositions containing these peptide-based conditioners and colorants are also described.
