Abstract: A processed representation of an audio signal having a sequence of frames is generated by sampling the audio signal within first and second frames of the sequence of frames, the second frame following the first frame, the sampling using information on a pitch contour of the first and second frames to derive a first sampled representation. The audio signal is sampled within the second and third frames, the third frame following the second frame in the sequence of frames. The sampling uses the information on the pitch contour of the second frame and information on a pitch contour of the third frame to derive a second sampled representation. Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of electronic data storage, integration, management, retrieval and organization that mimics the physical filing system through the use of account-centric non-table driven methodologies. The method of the present invention stores data related to the same account in an account-centric ledger file, where such ledger is a virtual folder that is being implemented using DBMS as the filing apparatus. The data as stored in the ledger can be retrieved as a whole when requested. Another embodiment of the present invention relates to a computer program having a module where execution of said module generates the method for storing, integrating, managing, retrieving and organizing data in accordance with the present invention.

Abstract: An improved constraint approach reduces the energy drift rate to acceptable levels. In an embodiment of this approach, massively parallel constrained velocity Verlet NVE (constant particle number, constant volume, constant energy) MD simulations can be run using single precision arithmetic with very low energy drift (e.g., ˜1 Kelvin per microsecond simulated time) using large timesteps (e.g., 2.5 fs) for typical systems and MD force fields.

Abstract: A method of evaluating the Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) of an optical fiber by arranging the optical fiber at substantially zero tension on a surface, propagating prescribed evaluation optical signals along the optical fiber, measuring fiber Differential Group Delay (DGD) values in response to the evaluation optical signals, repeating at least once the acts of propagating and measuring, each time preliminarily inducing a change in a mode coupling of the fiber, and determining the fiber PMD on the basis of a calculated DGD average value. Changes in the polarization mode coupling of the fiber are induced by, moving at least a section of the fiber substantially orthogonally to the surface.
Abstract: A machine for creping sheet material such as paper, textiles, metal foils, or plastic, comprises a driving drum, and a pressing plate for pressing a length of sheet material against the drum to drive the material lengthwise in the machine direction, and a retarding member arranged to contact the lengthwise-driven sheet material to cause it to crepe. The pressing plate has a plurality of pressure application points or areas distributed across the width of the sheet material on the drum, the pressure application points or areas being associated with pneumatic cylinders for applying different pressures to different parts of the material across its width according to a given pressure profile. The pneumatic cylinders can be arranged in groups to provide an adjustable pressure profile across the material wherein the pressures applied at the opposite edges of the material and at intermediate parts of the material are adjustable independently of one another.
