Abstract: A system and method for locating objects in an approximate immediate proximity to a user is disclosed. A two-way radio transponder system is employed with a Coordinator as a parent device and multiple Identification Tags as child devices. The system is low-cost and consumes relatively low power using advancement in microcircuit technology and additionally the system employs predetermined timing cycles to further optimize power consumption. The Coordinator has a microprocessor programmed to compare signal strength in successive communication cycles to help determine the proximity of the Coordinator to the multiple Identification Tags. Additionally, in a preferred embodiment, motion sensors are used to assist in determining relative motion between Coordinator and Identification Tags. A USB port is further included for the system to interface with a PC.
Abstract: A circuit configuration for measuring air humidity includes a measuring system which includes an oscillator unit and a signal-processing unit, as well as a frequency-determining impedance, which is determined largely by a parallel connection of a capacitive humidity sensor and a parasitic resistance. The frequency-determining impedance is connected to the oscillator unit, which includes an oscillator having an oscillation frequency that is a function of the frequency-determining impedance. The oscillator unit includes a switchable impedance, which can be connected in addition to the frequency-determining impedance, the oscillator thereby being switchable from a first frequency range to a second frequency range.

Abstract: An ethanol production system includes a feedstock distributor and a micro-refinery. The feedstock distributor can pre-ferment and pre-distill the feedstock so that the ethanol content can be between 15% and 50%. This processing can improve the ethanol production efficiency because less waste material is transported from the distributor to the micro-refineries and less time is needed by the micro-refineries to produce ethanol.

Abstract: An apparatus for measuring in situ the viscosity of a fluid within a vessel which includes an impeller paddle immersed in the fluid rotated by an electric motor connected to a shaft passing through a wall of the vessel. The impeller paddle is connected to the shaft by a toroidal spring. The electric motor is controlled by a variable voltage power supply controlled by a computer. Sensors are mounted on the impeller paddle and the shaft to sense the rotational positions of each and to generate electronic signals indicative thereof. The electronic signals are processed by signal processing circuitry to determining the deflection angle of the impeller paddle and the results sent to a computer, where the signals are recorded and analyzed to determine the viscosity of the fluid.
