Abstract: The present invention relates to Fibroblast-Growth Factor Receptor 4 (FGRF4) inhibitors for co-administration with a therapeutic procedure or/and agent for the prevention, alleviation or/and treatment of a hyperproliferative disorder, e.g. cancer, such as chemotherapy resistant cancer. Further, the present invention relates to a diagnostic procedure wherein expression status and/or polymorphisms of the FGFR4 gene are determined in a patient suffering from a hyperproliferative disorder, e.g. cancer. Based on the results of this determination and the status of the disorder to be treated a therapeutic protocol may be developed. Yet another subject of the present invention is a screening method.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a ceramic component of desired final geometry using at least a cellulose-containing semi-finished moulded part, which is pyrolysed in non-oxidizing gas atmosphere. In order to manufacture complex components, it is suggested that at least two semi-finished moulded parts are firmly joined either in raw form or after at least partial carbonisation. The joined moulded parts are subsequently machined to achieve the desired final geometry or a geometry corresponding to the desired final geometry plus the machining allowance. Then, the carbon parts are available after carbonisation of the moulded parts in non-oxidizing atmosphere. Alternatively, these can be converted into a CMC composite material in a non-oxidizing gas atmosphere by a metal infiltration process with simultaneous reactive joining of at least two moulded parts.

Abstract: This invention relates to nitrilase mutants having improved nitrilase activity for converting 3-hydroxynitriles to 3-hydroxycarboxylic acids. More specifically, the Acidavorax facilis 72W (ATCC 55746) nitrilase gene was mutated using error-prone PCR and site-directed mutagenesis to create nitrilase enzymes having improved nitrilase activity for converting 3-hydroxynitriles (e.g., 3-hydroxybutyronitrile or 3-hydroxyvaleronitrile) to the corresponding 3-hydroxycarboxylic acids. A process using these improved mutants to produce the 3-hydroxycarboxylic acids is also provided.
