Abstract: The present invention is based on the identification of new mutations in KCNQ1 (also termed KvLQTI), KCNH2 (also termed HERG), SCN5A, KCNE1 (also termed minK), KCNE2 (also termed MiRP) genes that encode ionic channels involved in cardiac electrical activity and are potentially responsible for the Long QT Syndrome. According to a main aspect, the invention relates to nucleic acids, oligonucleotides and polynucleotides and mRNA, containing sequences of KCNQ1, KCNH2 SCN5A, KCNE1, KCNE2 genes and cDNAs in a mutated form and to respective variant proteins thereof. A preferred embodiment of the present invention is represented by a diagnostic method based on the identification of a group of about 70 non-private mutations in the KCNQ1, KCNH2 and SCN5A genes, detected at high frequency.

Abstract: A system and method for scheduling advertisements in a television service network environment. An ad scheduler prepares an ad insertion schedule based on channel change statistical information and avail time information. The scheduler evaluates the statistical information, time durations between adjacent avails in a presentation stream, and the relatedness of market segments assigned to a plurality of advertisements. It schedules the ads into presentation stream groups based on this evaluation. The statistical ad scheduling allows the system to eliminate “forced” switching between multiple presentation streams, whereby system wears and malfunctions can be decreased.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for fixing a tool (10, 22, 64), especially a shaft tool, in a clamping chuck (8, 18, 60), whereby the tool (10, 22, 64) is introduced into the clamping chuck (8, 18, 60) and fixed therein (8, 18, 60) upon reaching an axial nominal position. According to the invention, the tool (10, 22, 64) is brought against an abutment (42, 70) and the position of a characteristic element of the tool (10, 22, 64) is measured. The tool (10, 22, 64) is positioned in the axial nominal position by moving the abutment (42, 70) along a positioning section (Z1) calculated from the measurement.

Abstract: Hexafluoroisobutylene and its higher homologs are easily reacted with SO3 to give fluorosulfates of the formula CH2?C(R)CF2OSO2F, wherein R is a linear branched or cyclic fluoroalkyl group comprised of 1 to 10 carbon atoms and may contain ether oxygen. These compounds react under mild conditions with many nucleophiles to give CH2?C(R)CF2X, where X is derived from the nucleophile. This reaction provides a route to many substituted hexafluoroisobutylenes, which copolymerize easily with other fluoro- and hydrocarbon monomers such as vinylidene fluoride and ethylene.
