Abstract: This invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding an acyltransferase, more specifically a phospholipid:diacylglycerol acyltransferase. The invention also relates to the construction of a recombinant DNA construct encoding all or a portion of the phospholipid:diacylglycerol acyltransferase, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the recombinant DNA construct results in production of altered levels of the phospholipid:diacylglycerol acyltransferase in a transformed host cell.

Abstract: A stairway with a finished skirt/fascia board is formed using parallel stringers and tread/riser support brackets spaced and aligned along the stringers. The brackets are temporarily and pivotally attached to stringers and the stringers are moved parallel to and relative to each other to orient the stringers for the slope of the stairway. The pivotal attachment of the brackets to one of the stringers and the unattached stringer is moved into contact with the other stringer at mating faces. The brackets are them permanently attached to the parallel stringers. The mating faces of the stringers form a finished skirt/fascia board for the stairway. Several variations in contoured faces, including tongue and groove contours, for the mating surfaces provide for a smooth and clean looking skirt/fascia board on a finished stairway.
Abstract: An optical element or component having excellent anti-fog effects as well as excellent scratch resistance and/or reflection reducing effects and optionally also hydrophobic and/or oleophobic properties, and a method for producing such an optical element or component. The element or component includes, in the following order, a glass substrate, a water-absorbing first layer, and a second layer selected from (i) an anti-reflecting coating; a mirror coating and a hard layer; (ii) a compound and/or combination of a hard layers and anti-reflecting coatings; and (iii) a compound and/or combination of hard layers and mirror coating. Blind holes or bores are introduced into the second layer and the water-absorbing first layer with the holes opening out from the second layer and extending completely through the second layer, and at least partially through the water-absorbing first layer.

Abstract: A method of injection molding or extruding a polymer composition having a predetermined bulk density associated with particles, granules or pellets of the polymer composition and a predetermined melt density when the polymer composition is fully melted and compressed. The method of the invention employs a screw having a volume compression ratio that is greater than or equal to the ratio of the predetermined melt density to the predetermined bulk density of the polymer composition and up to 1.25 × the ratio of the predetermined melt density to the predetermined bulk density of the polymer composition.

Abstract: A substantially torqueless composite dual core-spun yarn (10) is produced by introducing two slivers (30A,30B) forming a covering (30) together with a central (20) core in a spinning triangle (40). The core (20) is fed overtwisted S or Z and the slivers (30A,30B) have an opposite Z or S twist corresponding to about 30% to 70% of the twist of the fed overtwisted core (20) that detwists during spinning. The inelastic core (20) is fed at controlled speed to compensate for the angle of feed and to compensate for detwisting, and is guided into the spinning triangle (40) by a guide groove (52) in a feed roller (50).

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for visually presenting a set of properties of a web site, which comprises: (a) predefining within a provider's search engine a set of properties and assigning to each property a visual symbol; (b) using a spider program, visiting by said provider's search engine each web site and determining those properties from said set that are characteristic to that web site; (c) associating by said provider's search engine with each web site those symbols corresponding to said determined properties; (d) forming for each web site a corresponding combined visual representation of the web site based on said associated symbols; and (e) when listing search results to a user, including the combined visual representation for each web site respectively.
Abstract: A binding, in particular a snowboard binding comprises a base plate; a heel-cradling element; a toe-cradling element; an instep-strapping arrangement having a long part connected to one side of the base plate and a short side part connected to the other side; a closure device for the instep-strapping arrangement; and a flexible linkage connecting the closure device of the instep-strapping arrangement and the toe-cradling element. In an open position the toe-cradling element is free to move, and in a closed position the flexible linkage pulls the toe-cradling element, so the foot is secured between the toe-cradling element, the heel-cradling element and the instep-strapping arrangement. In this closed position the held-together parts of the instep-strapping arrangement hold a foot securely by forces acting between these parts through the closure device, independently of the need to maintain tension in the flexible linkage.
Abstract: A portable box is disclosed which is particularly suited for storing and carrying power tools. The box comprises a main handle and preferably two side handles arranged at side surfaces of the box. The main handle is arranged pivotably between a first erected position for carrying the box and a second position tilted against the side handle.
