Abstract: Peptide tags, referred to here as inclusion body tags, are disclosed and are useful for the generation of insoluble fusion peptides. The fusion peptides comprise at least one inclusion body tag operably linked to a peptide of interest. Expression of the fusion peptide in a host cell results in a product that is insoluble and contained within inclusion bodies in the cell and/or cell lysate. The inclusion bodies may then be purified and the protein of interest may be isolated after cleavage from the inclusion body tag.

Abstract: A curved tracking platform that can be employed on a dynamic seat or divan such as those used in a business jet aircraft so that the seat can be comfortably used as a seat or in an extended bed position. When in the unextended seat position, the tracking platform allows the horizontal portion of the seat to support an occupant pitched back toward the vertical seat cushion at or about an angle of 6° to the horizontal. However, when the tracking platform is extended so that the seat can be used as a bed, the tracking platform travels along a curved frame rail profile which allows the platform to lay flat or substantially flat, thus allowing the vertical cushion to be placed next to the horizontal seat cushion so that they lie substantially flat to provide optimized comfort.

Abstract: A composite lens assembly comprising an electro-active lens assembly, a first lens wafer, and a second lens wafer is provided. The electro-active lens assembly has an upper substrate layer with a planar upper surface and a lower substrate layer with a planar lower surface. The first lens wafer has a planar lower wafer surface adjacent and parallel to the planar upper surface of the upper substrate layer of the electro-active lens assembly. The second lens wafer has a planar upper, wafer surface adjacent and parallel to the planar lower surface of the lower substrate layer of the electro-active lens assembly.
Abstract: This invention provides processes for selectively electroplating metal layers into recessed topographic features on the surface of a conductive substrate. The processes are useful for fabricating metal circuit patterns, for example for creating copper interconnects between integrated circuit elements embedded in a thin layer of dielectric material on the surface of a semiconductor wafer.
Abstract: Endovenous stent for restoring the function of an incompetent venous valve having slackened cusps. The stent includes two parallel struts; two terminal elastic elements, connecting the struts at their extremities and compressing them apart, and make them, once the stent implanted into the vein to be cured, to dilate the intercommissural diameter of the valve to be cured, taking up the slackening of the incompetent cusps; and such endovenous stent, further dressed with a venous valvulated segment reversed inside-out, in which the cusps perform their valvular function by moving themselves from inside out, so constituting a venous neovalvular endobioprosthesis for curing an incompetent vein by implantation into it, in case of damage or aplasia of the venous valve.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the reduction of oligomer content of melt-processible fluoropolymer so that the fluoropolymer has at least 25 ppm less oligomer than the as-polymerized fluoropolymer.

Abstract: A process for dispersion spinning non-melt-processible fluoropolymer fiber in which a mixture of an aqueous dispersion of non-melt-processible polytetrafluoroethylene or modified polytetrafluoroethylene fluoropolymer particles and an aqueous solution of matrix polymer is formed. The non melt-processible particles have an SSG of less than about 2.40. The aqueous dispersion contains an aliphatic alcohol ethoxylate nonionic surfactant having a 20% residuals temperature determined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) of less than about 290° C. and is essentially free of surfactants containing aromatic groups. The dispersion has a fluorinated surfactant content of less than about 300 ppm. The mixture is extruded into a coagulation bath containing a concentration of ions which coagulate the matrix polymer to form an intermediate fiber structure. The intermediate fiber structure is sintered to decompose the matrix polymer and coalesce.

Abstract: A first electro-optic display comprises first and second substrates, and an adhesive layer and a layer of electro-optic material disposed between the first and second substrates, the adhesive layer comprising a mixture of a polymeric adhesive material and a hydroxyl containing polymer having a number average molecular weight not greater than about 5000. A second electro-optic display is similar to the first but has an adhesive layer comprising a thermally-activated cross-linking agent to reduce void growth when the display is subjected to temperature changes. A third electro-optic display, intended for writing with a stylus or similar instrument, is produced by forming a layer of an electro-optic material on an electrode; depositing a substantially solvent-free polymerizable liquid material over the electro-optic material; and polymerizing the polymerizable liquid material.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a combined panoramic, CT (Computed Tomography) and cephalometric photographing apparatus including: a base; a supporting pole; an elevation member; a panoramic and CT photographing part; and a cephalometric photographing part. The panoramic and CT photographing part includes: a rotary arm supporting member; a rotary arm arranging an X-ray source part and an X-ray sensor part in such a way that the X-ray source part and the X-ray sensor part are opposed to each other, the X-ray sensor part having a panoramic sensor and/or a CT sensor; and rotary arm driving means. A distance between the X-ray source part and the X-ray sensor part arranged opposed to each other with respect to the rotary arm is variable. The apparatus can conduct all of panoramic photographing, CT photographing and cephalometric photographing, and provide the optimum enlargement ratio according to whether the panoramic photographing or the CT photographing is conducted.
Abstract: In order to prevent negative effects of imprinting an the addressing accuracy of deformable actuators, a method for controlling deformable actuators has, during an event period, driving the first and the second deformable actuator for causing the deformable actuators to assume a first and a second deformation state, respectively; and, before or after the event period, driving the first and the second deformable actuator for causing the deformable actuators to assume deformations states to counteract an imprinting caused during the event period by approximating the loads applied to the deformable actuators to each other. According to an embodiment, before or after the event period, for a period substantially as long as the operation period, the first and the second deformable actuator are driven such that the first deformable actuator assumes the second deformation state and the second deformable actuator assumes the first deformation state.
