Abstract: Hexafluoroisobutylene and its higher homologs are easily reacted with SO3 to give fluorosulfates of the formula CH2?C(R)CF2OSO2F, wherein R is a linear, branched or cyclic fluoroalkyl group comprised of 1 to 10 carbon atoms and may contain ether oxygen. These compounds react under mild conditions with many nucleophiles to give CH2?C(R)CF2X, where X is derived from the nucleophile. This reaction provides a route to many substituted hexafluoroisobutylenes, which copolymerize easily with other fluoro- and hydrocarbon monomers such as vinylidene fluoride and ethylene.

Abstract: A wireless implantable device for communicating with a remote unit, wherein the wireless device is capable of self-initializing, namely initial booting without requiring an external general booting program to force the booting process. The implantable device can download program instructions from the remote unit for the operation of the implantable device. Moreover, the implantable device provides for checking the validity and integrity of any program instructions received from the remote unit for the operation of the implantable device. The implantable device has power-saving capability in order to extend the operation of the implantable device between battery charges.

Abstract: The supporting device for containers of biomedical fluids for parenteral administering, particularly bottles and phials for medical fluids, blood or the like, comprises an element substantially shaped like a cup, having an upper fitting opening for fitting a container for biomedical fluids, a lower exit opening of the fluid, an outer surface made of heat insulating material and an inner surface suitable for facing the container and of which at least one portion is associable with heat energy conduction and accumulation means.
Abstract: A mould holding cross member (9) according to the invention comprises a support base (91) a suitable to compress the mould (S) and more projecting, in the mould closing direction, than the ends (90) with which the cross member is connected to the moving columns (6) of the press on which it is fitted. The base (91) is connected to the rest of the cross member by a narrow portion (99) which extends in the central area of the base and between the projections of the hinging areas (7, 8) of the double toggle of the press on the press bed (2), and substantially not outside those projections. In this way the pressures are more uniformly distributed on the mould (S). The present invention also concerns a press fitted with a cross member (9) as defined above.

Abstract: A power tool is disclosed comprising a controller for controlling at least one operating parameter, a motor for driving a tool, at least three switching elements which are coupled to the controller, and a speed sensor for monitoring the speed of the motor to generate a speed signal, which is fed to the controller. The controller is configured so that, in dependence on the speed signal, with simultaneous activation of a first and at least one other of the switching elements, a control signal for changing the operating parameter is output, and that, in dependence on the speed signal, with activation of the first and at least one other switching element, a control signal for modified changing of the operating parameter is output (FIG. 2).
Abstract: Provided are methods for preparing a compound of Formula I: where the method comprises the steps of: contacting a compound of Formula II: with 1,3,5-benzene-tricarbonyl chloride in the presence of a polar aprotic solvent to form an amide adduct; and subsequently condensing the amide with a proximate anilino group present in the adduct in the presence of a condensing agent to form a compound of Formula I wherein R1, R2, Ar, m, p, and t are as defined in the specification.

Abstract: A tool-measuring device that measures a tool in a tool holder and that includes a measuring device and a processing device. The processing device controls the measuring device. The tool-measuring device measures a measuring point of the tool holder at a location relative to an apparatus point. In order to counter an error during the measurement of the tool, which error may be caused by a thermal change in size of the tool or of the tool holder or by an operator error, the processing device controls a measurement of a measuring point of the tool holder at another location and a position of a holder point of the tool holder relative to the apparatus point by the two measurements.

Abstract: A method for functionally identifying an epileptogenic focus in pre-surgical evaluation in affected subjects with intractable epilepsy is described, the method including the delivery of an effective dose of a botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT) to a presumptive epileptogenic focus in the disease-compromised central nervous system of a mammal, under conditions whereby the effective dose of the botulinum neurotoxin interacts with the soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor-attachment receptor (SNARE) proteins, thus impairing neurotransmission.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are processes for polymerizing ethylene, acyclic olefins, and/or selected cyclic olefins, and optionally selected olefinic esters or carboxylic acids, and other monomers. The polymerizations are catalyzed by selected transition metal compounds, and sometimes other co-catalysts. Since some of the polymerizations exhibit some characteristics of living polymerizations, block copolymers can be readily made. Many of the polymers produced are often novel, particularly in regard to their microstructure, which gives some of them unusual properties. Numerous novel catalysts are disclosed, as well as some novel processes for making them. The polymers made are useful as elastomers, molding resins, in adhesives, etc.

Abstract: An electronics filter circuit includes an electromechanical resonator that is mounted directly to the surface of a silicon integrated circuit, rather than being a surface mounted or leaded filter can on a circuit board. This filter circuit allows the integrated circuit electronic package to be significantly smaller than a conventional electromechanical resonator package. The electromechanical resonator may be protected during processing and during use with a protective cover that is made of a material such as titanium. The protective cover is attached to the integrated circuit chip.
